Is there a way to turn on/off tracing?

Hi

Due to memory restrictions we may not want to have a tracing backend, such as zipping, jaeger, tempo, etc, running all the time in our Kubernetes cluster.
However if the tracing in our code doesn’t find a way to send tracing info to the backend it will start throwing error messages.
I wonder if there is a way to turn off or disable tracing in the code. Or how to prevent the code from throwing these error messages into the logs.
