I just updated an existing form.
When I try to access the properties for any object, access the Field
Manager or export to PDF, I receive the following error:

No ProgID is available for this object.

Any assistance you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

Ryan.

Hello Ryan,

I have examed your file. I am sorry that it looked corrupted. I also tried to recover it but was not successful. You probably have to redo the form if you do not have a backup.

I am not able to explain why this occured. My guess is that if you use both Word 2003 and 2007 edit the same file, there is a chance that you forgot to enable ActiveX control in a warning message. This could cause the corruption. Can you confirm if you have used both Word 2003 and 2007?

Thanks,

Hello,

I only use Word 2007. I do get a warning to enable Macros, which I do enable.
I have remade this document 3 times this morning, and recieve this error at random. I can't seem to find a common point where this error starts, so I am not too sure what is causeing the issue.

I have successfully created two other forms since I posted this issue.

Could there be an issue that this document is saved as a .doc?  I'm not sure why it is saved as such since I created this form origionally from Word 2007.

Thank you again for your assisstance.

Ryan.

Hi Ryan,

This is weird. Saving as .doc could be a reason. Let’s keep an eye on it.

A few months ago, Microsoft Update had a bug that can cause some problem on CenoPDF. Please see our FAQ 3 for details:

http://www.lystech.com/faq.aspx#q3

Some users save the file to .doc to workaround above issue. Now, assume Microsoft has fixed that bug. If the software in your computer is up-to-date, you should not have this problem and you should save your file as docx.

A easy test is to create a blank document. Add a Text Box. Click Document Settings button and change something. Click OK to commit the change. Save the file. Close Word. Open this document again to see if you see “Invalid character in a Base-64 string” error. If you did not see the error and you can export to a PDF successfully, you are fine to save it as docx.

Thanks,

CenoPDF Support
