Things are going in the right direction but it needs some tweeks. I have some emoji fonts that I use regularly. One being Segoe UI Emoji. However after 1.10 Affinity designer always uses the default emoji with color. This is a problem because I want the black only glyphs.
I have attached (1) the expected result and (2) the Segoe UI Emoji glyphs as they appear in Microsoft Word. As you can see in the first image, Affinity 1.9.2.1035 is doing what I want with the black only emojis. However the latest Affinity Designer is forcing me to only use the default colored emojis.
I should also note that this isn't just for Segeo UI Emoji. This is a problem with all fonts as far as I can tell. Dollyn, a font with partial emoji support isn't working either. It's using the default colored emojis before it uses the emojis that the font supports.
When I am in the symbol browser in MS Word, all characters, symbols and emojis are displayed in black and white. If I then add an emoji by selecting and confirming it, the colour counterpart is displayed in my document.
FYI Are you sure about that? This is what the glyph browser for Segoe UI Emoji looks like in Affinity 1.9. Notice how they are not in color. I think this is the better behavior because the way Affinity 1.10 does it I can't use the specific fonts implementation of emoji. As a result the emojis look the same no matter what font I select, even if the font has it's own implementation of emoji character.
TLDR; I bought 300 emoji domain names from Kazakhstan and built an emoji email address service. In the process I went viral on TikTok, made $1000 in a week, hired a Japanese voice actor, and learnt about the weird world of emoji domains.
After updating to Sonoma, I noticed that macOS has changed the function of the "globe"/function key or CMD + Shift + Spacebar shortcut to summon a "smart" emoji picker with two or three suggested emoji.
Unfortunately, it usually guesses wrong, based on the last word I typed, which often isn't relevant to the emoji I'd to use. I find this annoying, and would rather have the globe key summon the "dumb" emoji picker like it did on Ventura, saving the step of clicking the down arrow every time.
+1 for this. I detest the emoji suggestions. The main reason it is broken for me is that I often want to use an emoji that is expressive of an emotion or entire sentence at the end of the sentence, but the emoji picker only suggests emoji for the last word typed. If you do the Ctrl + CMD + space shortcut twice, the full picker comes up, but why should I have to add another step? ? This should be optional.
Just providing an update.
On a fresh Ubuntu 19.04 VM sriram is right, Brave and Chromium both show monochrome emoji.
I was able to fix both Brave and Chromium by closing both browsers and running:
sudo apt install --reinstall fonts-noto-color-emoji
I could go on. I really could. I could talk about the sad state of browser support for color fonts, or how to avoid mismatched emoji fonts in Firefox, or subtle issues with measuring emoji width on Windows, or how you need to install a separate package for emoji to work at all in Chrome on Linux.
I got it from an icon pack. I can send them to you or get them from one of the commits. I analyzed a while back I think it is because of the text area alignment of content because I reduced the size of the emojis to smallest they still had that issue of icons aligned slightly on top unlike the text, even the current emojis are slightly aligned to top.
Maybe rethink the concept of emoji in Spark? Now there are three packs with a different number of emojis, I think you need to have one or two pack, but with a large number of emojis, for example, 48 or more. It is necessary that if they used different packs, they could see the emoji.
Earlier this week Microsoft announced that they have begun to roll out their latest update to Windows 11. Entitled 23H2, this update changes Microsoft's emoji support in two major ways: by adding 2022's Emoji 15.0 recommendations across Windows 11 and by integrating the glossy 3D Fluent emoji designs across a select flagship Microsoft applications.
The flat block-color Fluent emoji designs shown above are still the core emoji set used within most applications following this update. However, a long-anticipated emoji feature has made its debut within Windows 11 23H2.
Applications within the Microsoft Office Suite such as Word and PowerPoint are now using the 3D Fluent emoji designs that were initially previewed ahead of World Emoji Day in 2021 and have been used by Microsoft Teams since February 2022.
Several previously released emoji designs within the flat Fluent set have been revised within the 23H2 update. Many of these designs are from the smiley emoji category, where several emojis have had their eyes subtly reworked.
Today Google has officially unveiled its full-color designs for Unicode's latest approved emojis, which include a phoenix, a lime, smileys shaking their heads up and down, and a series of direction-specifying people emojis.

Because emoji originated in Japan, many reflect Japanese norms and culture. For example, this person is bowing deeply to indicate respect.
