Cognati et amici,
It's the first day of the 2014 shopping season, and I've a request for your shopping list. I think that it will be a much easier task than most any of the shopping you'll do today or in the coming weeks!
Here's the deal:
SALVI, the living-Latin-teaching organization to which I owe my newest and best thinking about this language that I love, is growing like crazy. Like. crazy. One example of this growth is that we are starting our first scholarship fund drive. This inaugural fund drive is also very close to my heart, as it is in memory of one of my friends in the Latin-teaching world, Amy High. Good reading about both SALVI and this Amy High Fellowship can be found at this link:
All about SALVI and the Amy High FellowshipAnd, please consider making a donation (possible at the same link) to further the work of this organization that represents the work I love. Each SALVI event of which I have been a part over the last decade has restored me as a teacher of Latin. If you can make a donation, you will be helping others to experience this deep professional rejuvenation. (And, within the next month would be great, as we have a matching donor until December 31!)
Please do not consider any donation too small, because the truth is that we need two distinct things. We need the donations for sure. But we also need donors. Lots and lots of donors. You know how they say that no donation is too small? Well, that's really true. This is SALVI's first funds drive. Lots of donors looks really, really good as we continue to grow. This is a way show how many people support what SALVI does.
Thank you for reading -- I know we are all so, so busy!
Much love,
Aurora (Dawn Mitchell)
