Okay, this is so hopelessly late in August that I probably should have waited til September, except in September WAYFINDER is on the shelves! And I thought that deserved a release-day newsletter of its own, so I'm hurrying up at the last moment to get an August newsletter out.

CONVENTION NEWS:
I'm going to be at New York Comic Con this year, October 13-16. I hope to see some of you there!

OLD RACES SHORT STORY PROJECT:

Many of you know I’m doing an Old Races project throughout 2011, which will deliver 6 Old Races short stories to its patrons. Four of them have now been written, and teasers for all four are available at the following URLs.

"Salt Water Stains the Sand": a story of the djinn
http://cemurphy.net/archives/560

"St. George & the Dragons": a story of the dragons
http://cemurphy.net/archives/610

"Falling": a story of the gargoyles
http://cemurphy.net/archives/628

"Awakening": a story of the vampires
http://cemurphy.net/archives/665

(The astute among you will notice there's a trend there. The last two stories will, yes, be about the selkies, and a human. :))

NEWSLETTER DRIVE INFORMATION:
As at least 339 of you are aware, I've been running a join-the-newsletter drive this month. I've been offering various rewards and incentives for joining up, among which are that I'm sending out a signed book to 1 in every 10 new subscribers. However, I wasn't expecting to double the number of subscribers (I'm GLAD I did, don't get me wrong, I'm just surprised!) so probably it'll take me the rest of the year to do that because, er, well, it starts getting expensive and writers get paid irregularly. So August's Newsletter Drive book winners are:

Stuart Shelton, Weirdlings, Teresa Nichols, Bernadette Constant, Sri, Anthony Harris, Robert Hood, Tara Doherty, Katherine Day, dragonsperch

If you will each email me (reply to this address) with your snail mail address, I'll send you a random signed book (*not* WAYFINDER) by me. And in September I'll pick another ten.

For the First Three Hundred subscribers--when I get my author copies of WAYFINDER, I'll send a dozen of them to randomly selected people who have been subscribed to the newsletter since before August 1, 2011.

Also, because the number of subscribers tipped over 500 by my arbitrarily-set deadline, sometime this winter (by Christmas, probably) I'll be writing a newsletter-only short story about Joanne Walker meeting Morrison for the first time. :)

I think that's all for the moment!
