The Celtics have been deep in Giannis Antetokounmpo trade rumors recently, and the end does seem to be near. The soft deadline for a Antetokounmpo trade is likely ahead of next Tuesday’s 2026 NBA Draft. So there should be some form of answer in the coming days.
But as negotiations continue, ESPN insider Brian Windhorst pointed out a big factor when it comes to the many pieces of the puzzle. The Celtics and Heat are considered the favorites to land Antetokounmpo, though it remains to be seen if Boston’s offer will be enticing enough for Milwaukee.
“Antetokounmpo and his representation,” Windhorst wrote, “have definitely tried to have a seat at the table during this process — a fact that makes the Celtics uncomfortable.”

The Celtics are in the thick of Giannis Antetokounmpo trade rumors with plenty of speculation coming from every corner of the league. According to NBA insider Jake Fischer, the C’s are also looking to potentially trade up from their late first-round pick ahead of next week’s draft.
Boston currently holds the No. 27 and No. 40 pick in the draft. The C’s went 56-26 during the regular season, leading to another late first-round pick. They got the 40th overall pick, which was originally the Bucks’ selection, from a trade with the Magic at last year’s draft.
The Celtics could package a player with the 27th pick to go up in the draft. They could also look to trade future draft picks, though this front office hasn’t dipped into that well frequently over the past few years. Regardless, it’s an interesting wrinkle where the Celtics could look to trade up for a better pick.

The Associated Press | June 17, 2026 at 12:49 PM
NEW YORK (AP) — The WNBA is expanding its schedule to 50 games per team next season — the most in the league’s 30-year history.
The new collective bargaining agreement that was ratified earlier this year allows the league to play up to 50 games for the next two seasons. There can be up to 52 regular-season games in 2029 and for the rest of the CBA.
“Demand for the WNBA has never been greater, and expanding to a 50-game regular season reflects the extraordinary momentum we are seeing across the league,” WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert said in a statement.

The Celtics are considering major changes to their roster this offseason in the wake of a disappointing first round playoff exit to the 76ers. Jaylen Brown’s name has emerged as a potential trade candidate for Boston via multiple reports as the Celtics weigh a full fledged Giannis Antetokounmpo pursuit along with other smaller tweaks to the roster.
The Celtics obviously value Brown quite highly coming off his best regular season during his 10 years in Boston. Yet, with Brown’s trade value potentially at its highest since signing a supermax contract, it’s understandable that Boston may want to explore what the All-Star could fetch in a hypothetical deal, whether that’s as a path to ultimately land Antetokounmpo or to reshape the roster in other ways.
So what type of deals could be in play? Let’s sort through some potential suitors and what type of assets they could bring to the table.

Monday morning in New York City. The humidity that felt like a damp blanket has vanished, leaving behind sun-soaked park benches and an easy, cool breeze.
Two days before, the New York Knicks were crowned NBA Champs after subduing the San Antonio Spurs in San Antonio. Here I am, standing in Washington Square Park talking with exuberant fans. These are the sorts of long-suffering fans who will chat with just about anyone about the title.
I am essentially listening to a form of pure joy.
