Boston Celtics rookie Amari Williams registered a double-double in the G League on Saturday, helping the Maine Celtics to a victory over the College Park Skyhawks.
Williams produced 10 points, 12 rebounds, six assists and two blocked shots in the 117-95 win at the Portland Expo Building. He shot 3-of-8 from the field and 2-of-2 from the free-throw line and was a plus-19 in 25 minutes as Maine improved to 7-3 to begin the season.
The 46th pick continued a strong rookie campaign on the glass, hauling in four on offense alone. He also showcased his playmaking ability, moving the ball in the half-court while also tossing a dime to Aaron Scott on the outlet pass.
Williams, signed to a two-way contract, has played sparingly to begin the season with the Celtics, totaling 31 minutes across six games. However, WilliamsĀ earned praise from coach Joe MazzullaĀ for staying ready and contributing when called upon.
The 7-footer from England is averaging 12.4 points, 11 rebounds, 4.6 assists and 1.9 blocks on 60.7% shooting from the field in eight appearances with Maine. He ranks sixth in the G League in rebounding, grabbing at least 10 in five games this season.
Williams is off to a productive start in the G League and proving himself night in and night out. The organization was excited to add him to the roster and is eager to see his continued development on and off the court throughout the season.
