This thread is for introductions and odds and ends that aren't big
enough to merit a new discussion.

Hi All, I am the new Academic Technology Specialist and have been here
all of 3 weeks! I have been using Google Docs for a couple years now
to store things like passwords (sh-h-h!) that I need at more than one
computer. It was especially useful when I was gathering names of
people interested in workshops. I could add them from whatever
computer I was at. That eliminated all the yellow stickies that were
so easy to loose.
I admit right up front that I don't know everything about Google docs,
groups and sites. (I doubt if there is anyone who does.) but I am
patient and persistent in finding answers.
I will be throwing out some examples of things you can do with these
tools and see if any of them interest you.
Looking forward to getting to know you better.

Hi everyone-
I am the coordinator of the driver education teacher certification
program in the Division of Continuing Education and Extended Studies
and an adjunct instructor in the program. I work from the Safety
Center offices in Manchester and a home office. I have not formally
used any Google tools (except Google Earth) but have been visiting
some of the Docs to start developing an understanding of ways I might
use them to enhance our work. I was fascinated to read about the new
Google Wave tool that they are currently beta testing.
I'm looking forward to learning from and with others in this group.

Hi Everyone,

My name is Heather Jasmin. I am the Program Coordinator in the Office
of Continuing Education and Extended Studies. In my work, I focus on
programs for the community - non-credit classes for personal
enrichment and professional development; summer programs for children,
and classes for learning in retirement. I haven't used Google tools
for much beyond searching and mapping. I've heard a lot about the
other tools and I'm looking forward to learning more.

I am an adjunct in the PE Department, teaching First Responder classes
to Athletic Training majors. In my non-KSC-working-world, I teach all
levels of First Aid, CPR, & design/facilitate other related courses…
all as a “traveling road show” for community members, schools,
agencies and businesses of all sorts. I also am an EMT Instructor for
the state of NH, and I own & operate my own business for all of this…
Manning Emergency Educators. In my spare time (ha!), I get to
volunteer as an EMT on an ambulance squad in Marlborough &
Harrisville!
So, I am very new to most of this. I have had a Google account for
several years, but have never played with the possibilities, of which
I know there are many, and about which I feel quite overwhelmed! My
daughter even set me up with an outline for a Blog for a Mother’s Day
gift (to support/supplement my website - designed by someone else)…
but I’ve not edited it as yet so as to ready it to go on line. I am
hopeful that this course/group will “force” me into this world of the
unknown, with the result being an appreciation for the potential that
exists on line.

And, for the record... I've had trouble even posting here!... hmmmm!
Hope this works!
Phylis
