Advanced Topics. If you only know the emoji character's decimal or hexadecimal notation, and want to know the meaning try typing "emoji e507" or "iemoji 58157" in google. Google will usually show the emoji name quickly.

The Emoji keyboard/window on my IPAD closes after clicking one Emoji. It did not do this prior to IPAD IOS14. This happens when I am using the Apple Bluetooth keyboard. It does NOT do this if I use the onscreen keyboard. It is time consuming to keep opening the keyboard window to use more than one Emoji. And, Why does the Emoji Keyboard display as a small window, when using the Magic Keyboard? This requires a lot of scrolling to get to the desired Emoji. If I use the onscreen keyboard, the Emojis display across the entire bottom 1/3 of my IPAD. If I so not use the onscreen keyboard, the Emojis display in a little window...

Thanks for the suggestion, I am using the Smart Keyboard Folio. I disconnected it, restarted, then reconnected, but the problem still exists. The problem happens any time I am trying to use emojis from the Smart Keyboard Folio (in messages, while responding to this message in safari, and in email...etc). Prior to the IOS update, the emoji keyboard functioned the same way, whether I was using the on screen keyboard or the Smart Keyboard folio (1st pic - emoji keyboard displayed across bottom 1/3rd of screen, and stayed there until I closed it, I could tap multiple emojis). Now, with the Smart Keyboard, a small emoji keyboard window appears, and after tapping an emoji, the emoji keyboard disappears (2nd pic). I have to re-open the emoji keyboard to send more than 1 emoji. Thanks for your help!

After the latest software update for my iPhone SE, I've discovered that the emoji keyboard is now replaced by the language keyboard when using email or messages. If I hold the language button on the bottom left of the keyboard, I can then pick emoji. But when done, the keyboard reverts back to the "language" button that looks like the globe. How can I restore the "emoji" button as the default button on the keyboard instead of the globe button?

Try tapping Settings > General > Keyboards. Then, tap Keyboards again at the top. There are a few things to check here. First, tap "Add New Keyboard" and you should be able to add the Emoji keyboard back to this list, if it's not showing there.

Also, if you have multiple keyboards added here, it's normal to see the globe instead of the Emoji button in your keyboard. As a test, try removing any keyboards you've added other than your preferred language and Emoji and try typing in an app like Messages; do you see the Emoji button now?

No that is wrong. you can implement emoji keyboard at your own. yes for that you need to play with unicode characters. you can get many question regarding emoji keyboard check below link for more detail.

Note :- If you want to develop your own keyboard without help of libraries on github , you can check logic regarding implementation of keyboard. most probably you need to check how unicode character converted into string and it displays as emoji in text box.

Since the update of IOS 13 my emoji keyboard has been glitching. When I scroll the emoji keyboard to the emoji that I want , the keyboard jumps to the beginning of the emojis before I can select anything. Tried restarting my phone, reset the keyboard app, also downloaded the new IOS 13.5 with bk succes.

Hi everyone! Here's a tip for those who use the iPad with a Bluetooth keyboard. I didn't know this before and just now discovered it, so to me it was not obvious. Anyway, if you enable Bluetooth and connect to a Bluetooth keyboard on the iPad, whenever you tap on a text field to enter type, you don't automatically get the screen keyboard...it is disabled as long as you have the Bluetooth keyboard linked up. This seems to be true system wide, and in all of the 3rd party apps that I have. I wanted to use Emoji, especially in iMessages, and I couldn't figure out how when the Bluetooth keyboard was linked. Well, on the Bluetooth keyboard, if you press the "eject" key (top right key with the triangle pointing up), this will reveal the on-screen keyboard and you can select the Emoji keyboard from there. Just in case anyone else was wondering about this, whether they wanted to access Emoji or any other of the enabled virtual keyboards.

It works like Alt+Tab switches between apps. i.e. You can keep holding Ctrl and hit Space to keep advancing through your keyboards. Just like you can keep holding Alt and hit Tab to move through open apps.

Thank you soooo much! . I was really stumped on this one. Yes, I'm a beginner, but, even still, I though I would come across solution more intuitively. I'm so glad you shared your experience. I have a another question now, which further demonstrates what a novice I am, . . but, can you SEND the imessage without touching the "Send" button on the ipad screen. Is there a shortcut on the keyboard that will send it?

I have the Logitech Bluetooth keyboard for iPad. It doesn't have the eject key but looking it over I realized it had a blue function key in the shape of a keyboard on the 6 key. Press and hold the blue FN key and then tap the 6/Keyboard Key and voila up pops the on screen keyboard. Access the emoji character I want and then hide the keyboard again either by tapping the on screen keyboard hide key or pressing FN+6 again.

(on the Logitech BT Keyboard) by toucing the 'screen lock button' in the top, right corner of the keyboard or the 'minimize button' in the top left and then touching some other button on the keyboard. This unlocks the iPad's screen and takes you back to last thing you were doing before you locked it. Handy to know, I thought.

On thinking about that further, I realize that I was thrown off by the imformation that came with the Logitech keyboard. I just pushed the 'lock button' to wake the iPad without investigating further. It's funny that I never wound up pushing another key be acccident!

If anyone knows how to 'send' texts and the like without touching the button on screen, I would love to hear about that. I have noticed that the 'enter' button on the keyboard has many places where it works quite well, but it's not universal unfortunately....

On my iPhone 4, I recently added the emoji keyboard in Settings/General/Keyboard/Keyboards/Add New Keyboard. To my surprise, when I again connected either of two Logitech Bluetooth keyboards, I found the keys were completely mis-mapped (i.e. - the keys pressed did not correspond to the characters being typed on the iPhone 4 screen.) This rendered the bluetooth keyboards useless.

We understand that you're experiencing an issue with the Emoji keyboard jumping from the desired emoji to the top of the emojis when scrolling. Since the behavior continues after resetting and removing the keyboard, it would be best to reach out to Apple directly to have them investigate. Use the link below.

Hello, so I updated my iPhone 8 Plus to IOS 13 and for some reason, My iPhone Keyboard does not have the emoji shortcut button on the bottom left corner. I tried rebooting, restarting, deleting and adding emoji keyboard several times, but it's not working. Any help? is this just an error on the IOS update?

My 8Plus is experiencing the same thing after 13.2. Have tried all suggestions several times. Under Keyboards it shows "Emoji" but there is no > to the right for me to even remove and add back. Does not show on my list to add a new keyboard either.

Following a chat with Apple Support, I got a workaround. Holding down the little globe on the keyboard produces a list with the keyboards....one is emoji, although it is not checked. Clicking on it anyway gets the emojis.

The emojis are now available on my phone 6plus. They NOT in the expected area - on the bar right under the message screen with the other choices of stickers, gifs, pictures etc. For regular emojis, click the globe/circle with lines icon next to the microphone. Hope yours are there too!

This solution worked but why doesn't the globe' shortcut give you the option to go directly to the emoji keyboard? I know it's trivial in the grand scheme of things but what a pain to have to hold down the globe button to get to a keyboard already listed on my phone.
