I have looked at Microsoft Documentation but didn't find an answer, I already have SQL Server 2016 Express edition on my machine and wonder if it's possible to install SQL Server 2016 Developer edition side by side with the Express edition?
I have reinstalled my SQL Server 2016 as for an unknown reason which lead to the SQL Server down...But, when I finished the installation, I found I can not connect to (LocalDB)\MSSQLLocalDB any more. I got this error message from SQL Server.
A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 52 - Unable to locate a Local Database Runtime installation. Verify that SQL Server Express is properly installed and that the Local Database Runtime feature is enabled.) (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 2)
Exciting news! Starting today, SQL Server 2014 Developer Edition is now a free download for Visual Studio Dev Essentials members (you will be prompted to sign in to Visual Studio Dev Essentials before you can download SQL Server 2014 Developer Edition). We are making this change so that all developers can leverage the capabilities that SQL Server 2014 has to offer for their data solution, and this is another step in making SQL Server more accessible. SQL Server Developer Edition is for development and testing only, and not for production environments or for use with production data.
Hi Jason, yes, SQL Server 2014 Developer Edition is free and there is no time limit, but it cannot be used for production. Developer Edition offers the full feature set of Enterprise Edition, but is for development and testing only, and not for production environments or for use with production data. Express Edition can be used in production, but has the scalability and feature limitations detailed on our SQL Server Editions ( -us/server-cloud/products/sql-server-editions/) webpage. You will need a copy of Windows or Windows Server to run SQL Server Developer Edition. For additional detail about Developer Edition use rights, please see the Microsoft SQL Server 2014 Licensing Guide: _Server_2014_Licensing_Guide.pdf
Ideally what I would like to do now is create a Windows VM that's sole purpose would be to run SQL Server Developer Edition. When I need to use it, just power on the VM and connect to it from my native windows environment. I don't want to install SQL Server locally on Windows 11 because it's a bit of a resource hog and I want to keep these services compartmentalized so I can turn them on only when I need them.
Is there not an option for some type of lightweight free Windows Server I can run as the VM OS? Or can't I just install another copy of Windows 11 in a VM on top of the main one or is that going to cause some type of licensing issue ? Any help would be greatly appreciated I would like to get this up and running today.
The developer edition of ArcGIS Experience Builder supports ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Enterprise 10.6 and later. There are two services for extending Experience Builder, the server and the client. You will need to have both services running to have your updates load in Experience Builder. To install the developer edition of Experience Builder, complete the following steps for the server install and client install. If you need to install Experience Builder without an internet connection, complete the offline install steps.
Experience Builder uses a self-signed certificate in Node.js to support HTTPS. You can run Experience Builder using this certificateby trusting it, or you can use your own certificate. To change the default certificate with your own, replace these two files in theserver/cert directory: server.key and server.cert.

When you change or upgrade Node.js version on your machine, it is recommended to run the command "npm ci" again under the "server" and "client" folder of Experience Builder Developer edition, so that it reflects all the new changes from the new version of Node.js installed.
Please check the recommened Node version for latestExperience Builder. It is suggested to install latest version of ArcGIS API JavaScript to support enhancements and new features inExperience Builder. You can also view the offline installation video for a walkthrough. Itis also suggested that you setup CORS support on your server for the hosted JSAPI. For example, with Windows OS, you can addAccess-Control-Allow-Origin action in HTTPS Response Header.
I just installed the SQL Server 2019 Developer Edition on my personal laptop. It shows that ssdt version 16 is present within the visual studio Suite but I cannot find any sort of way to begin development on an ssis project within visual Studio.
I just installed the SQL Server 2019 Developer Edition on my personal laptop. It shows that ssdt version 16 is present within the visual studio Suite but I cannot find any sort of way to begin development on an ssis project within visual Studio. What am I missing here? Do I have to install the stand-alone SSDT or something and if so, what specific version of SSDT? Microsoft seems to make the whole SSDT/SSIS issue so incredibly vague/complicated. Thanks in advance!
The key here is that the tools (SSMS, SSDT, SSIS, ADS, SSRS) are separate from the services (SQL Server, SSRS, SSIS, SSAS). Installing the developer edition of SQL Server doesn't install the tools. You have to go to a separate installation process for those. Honestly, this is wonderful news for host of reasons, but yeah, if you're used to the old model, it's weird.
SQL Server Developer edition lets developers build any kind of application on top of SQL Server. It includes all the functionality of Enterprise edition but is licensed for use as a development and test system, not as a production server. SQL Server Developer is an ideal choice for people who build and test applications.

On the STEP 4 are you saying I am not going to run the sonar scanner on the server?. I want to know what you mean by installing it on the client. Because currently now that is where I am stuck. I have tried configuring for .Net and others but not successful but all this on same server where I installed the sonarqube.

Installation requirements vary based on your application needs. The different editions of SQL Server accommodate the unique performance, runtime, and price requirements of organizations and individuals. The SQL Server components that you install also depend on your specific requirements. The following sections help you understand how to make the best choice among the editions and components available in SQL Server.
You can install just the SQL Server client components on a computer that is running client/server applications that connect directly to an instance of SQL Server. A client components installation is also a good option if you administer an instance of SQL Server on a database server, or if you plan to develop SQL Server applications.
