You can use render_cell in a cell view.

Alternatively, you could consider using Apotomo (I know that you know it ;)

I was thinking about an easier transition from Cells to Apotomo the last years - an easy way to define nested cells could be a start. Would you fancy some declarative style for defining the nesting, a la

class CommentFormCell < Cell::Rails

  contains :text_field, :subject # refers to TextFieldCell
  contains :text_field, :body
