what serum to use in bone marrow cells?

Hi guys,

just wondering if there was an alternative serum from FBS that would be effective on primary bone marrow sample we get from patients to culture. Currently we use 25% FBS in RPMI 1640, but its becoming very expensive of late...i heard horse serum might be OK to use? Has anybody used it?
