I have a 12 year old and an 8 year old, and they've been feeling
pretty bummed lately, getting together at the park with friends when
everyone doesn't understand why they have to have a different diet,
etc...

So, I was wondering...would anyone else be interested in meeting up at
a local park around dinnertime, when it's a bit cooler, on a weekday
or weekend? Just BYO dinner kind of meet-up to play and such?

I'd be happy to coordinate, if there's interest. I'm on the SE, but I
can come up to the Eastside or central Tucson, as well. :-)

I would definately be interested, although my schedule is hard to work with.
I have 2 girls 8 and 10. Anytime after 6:30 pm. or maybe a Sunday afternoon. Unfortunately I have to work on Saturdays.

Thanks,

Cheyenne Clark

I am definately interested! I've a six year old and a ten year old.
I'm also on the SE side too, but am willing to travel! Sunday
afternoon would work for us too!

YES!!!!
I am interested as well. I have three children 15, 8 and 3. I also live in
the NW. A Sunday would work best for me. Since we are all in different
areas, maybe a central location would be best. An idea might be Reid Park?
Diana is this comes together I think we should also post it on the ListServ
:)

Glad you're interested too Kim. It's been a long time since we've all
seen each other, much less our kids. Shauna, thanks for being willing
to organize a park date. I think we'll just keep it here on the Cel-
Kids message board for now though. :)

Oh I'm so excited, woo hoo! :-D Looks like Sunday afternoon it is. So
happy to be able to get together with some fellow celiac folks! Reid
Park would work for me just fine, too.

Anyone be able to get together this Sunday and just jump right in to
this? Looks like a low probability for rain that day, at least.

So how about this:
Where: Reid park, at the playground on the SW end of the park, off of
22nd St. I believe S. City Parkway is the street directly across from
the parking lot. (If someone has a better playground idea at Reid
park, I'd be completely fine with that. This just happens to be the
one I'm familiar with.)

When: This Sunday at hmmm... 5:30ish, where we can all bring our own
dinners? I would be happy to come as early as 3pm, but I think maybe
later would be better for temperature reasons. Although if anyone
would like to come early, let me know and we'll show up! :-)

Would this work for everyone?

I'd be happy to put up different days, parks, etc.... for future
weeks, too. Very much enjoy meeting some new people.

Let's see, if Kim and Cheyenne can't do this weekend, how about Sunday
the 22nd, same time and place? I think that's three weekends away,
yeah? Would that work for you both? How about for you, Diana?

I think it'll be a blast. :-)

That works for me; can we make it earlier than 5:30pm? That's a school

Dounds good to me. Also for any of the mom's interested I know that chef Rachel is holding a gf baking class on the 22nd - $40.00-45.00. Just thought you might want to know about it.
See you all on the 22nd!

Cheers,
Cheyenne~

That would work for us. What about everyone else?

Recommend you bring a spray bottle or two of plain water. Sprayed onto
the skin, it will have a cooling effect as we KNOW it will be hot!

Count me in for now, My hubby's b-day is the night before. The only way I won't be able to make it is if he wants to stay the weekend in Phx. with our friends.

3:30 works well for me too, no problem.

So, that would be Sunday the 22nd at 3:30 at Reid park, the south
playground off of 22nd st.
That sound about right?

This will be a lot of fun, I think. I can bring a sign or something to
tack onto a table so we can all find each other, unless anyone already
has one? Or just a funky colored tablecloth, if I can find one, LOL.

Kim was suggesting snacks because of the earlier time. Did you all
want to potluck this sucker with snacks, or bring your own food?
My family has a number of other food issues (no corn, dairy, or eggs
for the kids), so we tend to bring our own food regardless. Unless
somehow we lucked out unimaginably and nobody else can have these
either, heh. ;-)

I'd suggest brings snacks, or a meal, and bring an ingredients list so
the option to share is there, but the others can look at the list and
see if sharing is appropriate.

woo hoo, the 22nd is coming up, yeaaaa! Hopefully, everyone is still
up for parkday. :-)

What we have at the moment is the following, I believe:
3:30 pm, Sunday the 22nd
at Reid park, the south playground off of 22nd st.

I thought Diana's food idea sounded the best, where we can bring
snacks with an ingredients list so we can share if possible, but enjoy
our own food if it's not an option, yeah?

I have a pink and white stripped cloth I can bring to put over a
picnic table so we can all find each other. - I believe it may even
have little flowers, LOL. Look forward to seeing ya'll!
