I thought I was doing well with oil - use the Spectrum brand
typically, for my shortening and many of our oils. But something has
still been bothering my daughter that we never could figure out, and
now I believe it might have been this oil.

I had no idea they processed wheat germ oil on the same lines as the
other oils and shortening products. Argh. Looks like the little one
might be sensitive enough that this has been zapping her, poor dear.

So I have found one brand of oil that's made in a gluten free
facility, but if you all know of any others, I would really appreciate
it!

Are you looking for cooking oil, or something more like olive oil?

Both, right now.

365 brand is supposed to be good, but I'd kind of like to see if
there's anything else that might do, ya know?

Dear Shauna,

Good olive oil is the best. It seems unlikely that any good olive oil
manufacturer would process on shared equipment. I don't notice any
difference in flavor in baking with olive oil. If you or your
daughter do, then reduce the amount of olive oil and add a little
applesauce when baking. In my opinion olive oil is the only safe and
overall healthy oil to use. I substitute it for butter too, it's so
much healthier.

Good luck.

Indeed I do, as I know 365 is a bit pricey. There is one that I
recently purchased at Fry's. I think the name is Pompian (I can't
remember how to spell it). It is an olive oil, though. I believe
General Mills is the parent company, and the "blurb" about the
labeling on the back says that it is gluten free. Olive oil can be
used as a cooking oil. . I once read Crisco oils are good, but I could
research that more if you'd like. I know their butter flavored
shortening is gluten free for sure.

I don't suppose you know of any names of good olive oil companies? I
doubt I could pick out 'good' olive oil with directions and a map,
LOL.

I need to find an olive oil that is processed on a gluten free line at
most, in a gluten free facility, if possible, and the few companies
I've looked at don't meet that requirement aside from 365 brand.
Spectrum was a definite no, and Carapelli and Colavita are looking
like no's, especially Carapelli with that strange new oil product they
have now based on nuts and wheat grain and such. But I honestly could
be looking at 'Goobledy Gook' brand Olive Oil for all the knowledge I
have of them. Feels kind of a shame to research oils that aren't even
worth eating, ya know? Sigh.

I assume you didn't want 365 brand as they can be pricey, or was there
another reason?

Price was definitely a reason. Another is, I suppose, paranoia. I keep
finding something I think is good, and then the recipe changes or they
add wheat foods on the line or we end up reacting. :-( I feel like I
want to have something I KNOW I can have plus a back up to boot, at
this point. Sigh.
