We detected an OEM license for ____. This allows you to install ___ or ___ or ___. Unfortunately this install media does not include any of those editions. If you proceed to install one of the following editions, you will need to provide a new license key before you can activate windows. What would you like to install? ___, ____, ____, ____ or quit.

If you are getting redirected from the /windows10 to /windows10ISO or vice-versa, you can just open up your browser developer tools and using the "responsive" tools (which let you alter your User-Agent string) pretend your browser is (or isn't) Windows in order to get the ISO or MCT download page.

If you have a Windows 10 ISO you can also create bootable USB media using the Windows USB/DVD Download Tool. Useful if you happen to have an edition-specific ISO laying around. Also with windows 10 you can't just dd an ISO onto a USB stick because the install files are now over the limit for FAT filesystem...so you have to use a special tool to convert new Windows ISOs for bootable USB.

So I fix up computers as a hobby. I come across a lot of dead laptops with live windows 7 licenses but vary on Home premium, Pro, etc. Is there an iso I can download for a bootable usb that has every option of installation?

The issue isn't x86 or x64 support, its getting an unattended install working with an all in one edition of windows. RT 7 Lite prompts you for which version you want to create an unattended install for. I'm going to try creating the UA install with RT 7 Lite then removing the ei.cgi file and see if that works.

I'm a little confused about the keys tho. Can I simply skip the activation (entering the key) until after windows is installed, and activate manually inside the OS? Sorry, I just don't quite understand that last bit..

What I would advise you to try is to get a windows 10 ISO onto a bootable USB stick , Try it on another computer before this one. So plug it in and see if it gets to the setup screen , Once the setup shows just hit cancel as you know that the USB is booting correctly.

While Rufus is a great tool, there is no need to use it or any 3rd party tool to create Windows Bootable USBs. All you need is a Windows machine and a small Powershell script to create a bootable drive. More details here -v.io/create-bootable-usb-windows Opens a new window. That works perfectly for Windows 10 and Windows Server 2016/2019.

Just a quick note in case this can help some one in the future. I tried everything listed in this thread without success when trying to install windows on a Pro X2 G2 Tablet/Laptop, but the USB drive was not recognized no matter what I tried (Rufus, media creation tool, Bios settings, etc). The issue is that the USB port which the bios refers to is not the "normal" USB port, but the small USB C port which is also used for charging. Out of desperation I tried connecting a USB C dongle (which has 3 USB ports, an ethernet and VGA port) and connecting the drive with the usb stick prepared with Rufus, everything worked as expected.

Make sure to adjust /run/desktop/mnt/host/c/ncdata to your needings. This path is equivalent to C:\ncdata on your Windows host so you need to translate the path accordingly. Hint: the path that you enter needs to start with /run/desktop/mnt/host/. Append to that the exact location on your windows host, e.g. c/ncdata which is equivalent to C:\ncdata.

12. You should also open the Backup and restore section type in a path like e.g. /run/desktop/mnt/host/c/backup and submit it. This path is equivalent to C:\backup on your Windows host so you need to translate the path accordingly. Hint: the path that you enter needs to start with /run/desktop/mnt/host/. Append to that the exact location on your windows host, e.g. c/backup which is equivalent to C:\backup.

Worked for me. Upgraded Windows 10 on my brand new surface book 3, but it screwed up whilst the slew of updates happened alongside my firmware updates and all sorts (yes, weirdly these are included in windows update. it tried to cycle through more than one firmware update, and windows got hosed, thankfully not the bios.

With lot of messing around with windows 10 i was able to get the insider build to install on a pc without tpm and running on sandy bridge gotta mess with the registry and replacesing a dll file with a custom one to trick windows you are able to install it on a system with a old cpu and no tpm
