Normally on my iPhone I'm able to simply click on the PDF attachment at the bottom of an email and it opens for me to read but I just got an iPad and it doesn't seem to do that. When I click attachments in my email nothing happens. But for instance when I try to open attachments I have saved in Dropbox they open perfectly fine.
I found after a bit of experimenting that if I forwarded the email to myself it then appeared as a pdf attachment. If you then hold your finger over the icon for the attachment rather than just tap, the Ipad selection window comes up which allows you to select "Copy to adobe acrobat". Doing this makes it open correctly.
That unfortunately didn't work. Holding down the attachment highlights it in gray but nothing else. It's like the mail client doesn't even know what type of file it is or something. Conversely if I try opening the attachment in gmail through safari, it works fine

Try a Reset [Hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons down together for 10 seconds or so (until the Apple logo appears) and then release. The screen will go blank and then power ON again in the normal way.] It is app and data safe!
Up until say 3 weeks ago I would tap on an email attachment (a PDF) and a menu of apps would appear. Normally I would choose Goodreader or iBooks to open the PDF. No problems. My iPad2 would switch to the app and open the PDF.
Now that IOS 6 is out when you touch the email attachment icons appear. Goodreader and iBook show up. But when i touch either one of these icons nothing happens. It won't switch to the app and open the PDF anymore.
second, I went to my local Apple store and talked to the guys at the genius bar. I demonstrated the problem to them. They said it looks like a bug and suggested I send a bug report to apple. Never heard back from them.
I'm going to archive all of the PDFs currently stored in iBooks and then delete iBooks and try reinstalling it. I see earlier in this thread someone tried that but it had no effect. But at this point I am really frustrated.
