yes, i know it was converted to a bubblegum teeny bop song- but that was not its original intent. Lil Mama was never a teeny bop rapper, unfortunately acting like this was really a teeny bop song was her only way to hit the mainstream.
this line starts off kind of aggressive, and implies there is something secret and special to know about her that you couldnt know unless she >told you. Its not something that you can see...like actual lipgloss.
Lip Gloss is her euphemism for giving head. Poppin can also mean "to have sex". It may not mean it here, but its still an interesting choice >of slang. Why would boys stop at her locker because of her lip gloss? Only if the rumors are "she gives great head"
This study aimed to compare the change of surface roughness (Ra) and gloss units (GU) of five dental composites (Filtek Z250, Filtek Z350XT, Metafil CX, Ceram X one, and Venus Diamond) polished with three systems (Sof-Lex XT, Enhance/Pogo, and Sof-Lex Diamond) before/after simulated brushings and to determine the amount of time required to achieve maximum gloss. Ninety rectangular specimens (n=18 per composite) were prepared. Six specimens of each composite were assigned to one of the polishing systems. The Ra and GU of each specimen were measured after each polishing step. Five polished specimens per composite were brushed with a toothbrush machine, and the Ra and GU values were determined. Filtek Z350XT exhibited the most stable and lowest Ra during the brushing cycles regardless of polishing system. When using the Sof-Lex Diamond and Enhance/Pogo systems, the highest gloss and the smoothest surfaces were achieved after polishing and brushing.
"Lip Gloss" by Lil Mama is a song about the empowerment that comes with feeling confident and beautiful. Lip gloss, which serves as the central metaphor in the song, represents the speaker's self-care and the way she takes charge of her image.
Throughout the song, Lil Mama celebrates lip gloss as a fun and expressive accessory that sets her apart from her peers while also making her attractive to boys. She describes her preferred brands, L'Oreal and Mac, and the way she applies it with care to draw attention to her lips. In the chorus, she repeats the phrase "Whatchu know 'bout me?" to defiantly assert herself and make the point that she knows what she likes and isn't afraid to flaunt it.
The song also touches on some of the negative reactions the speaker receives from other girls who are envious or dismissive of her style. Despite the haters, Lil Mama remains confident and undaunted, continuing to wear and promote her beloved lip gloss.
Overall, "Lip Gloss" is a catchy, upbeat ode to self-expression and confidence, with lip gloss serving as a symbol for the speaker's refusal to conform to the norm and her embrace of her own unique style.

Aha, we analyzed this song in English the other day. My teacher is HILARIOUS. She tells us that her fiance is listening to this song and is like... "I don't get it. Most rap songs have like.. some sexual connotation.. and.. lip gloss? What's the point of this song?" and my teacher is like "Hello?! You don't get it?! What do boys like about a girl's mouth?! 'wipe the corners of my mouth so I can work it?!'"
For visuals such as music videos for her songs, Skott makes sure that the align both thematically and stylistically to both the song and artwork they are attached to. While creating the song "Glitter & Gloss", Skott states that she always saw 'ice and snow' along with 'heavy vehicles or motors,' which turned into the snowmobiles and frozen tundra" in her mind when it came to the video. The one thing that V-Day has going for it that I can always get behind is the influx of love songs that seem to crawl unabated from every crevice and dusty shelf that they called home the other 364 days of the year.
Trevor: Tom Waits is the right man to take this song. There's a famous description of Tom having a voice "soaked in a vat of Bourbon hanging in a smokehouse for a couple of months, then taken outside and run over with a car."
