The steps to download a language are the same for Android and iPhone or iPad, with one difference. On Android phones, you have the option to set parameters for data usage. This can help you avoid data charges when you download languages for use offline. Here's how.
The google translate app on my xiaomi mi 6 suddenly stopped working offline. I have the languages downloaded but it would translate only when i let it use cellular data. I should mention that it worked before few days. Any solutions?
Let us assume that you have installed this plugin and that you have a Dataiku DSS project with a dataset containing a column of text to translate. You can optionally have a column indicating the source language, for multiple input languages translation.
Using a file browser, I am able to look at the SD card and see that /storage/extSdCard/Android/data/com.google.android.apps.translate/files/olpv3/v5/25/r11 contains folders like dict.en_pt_25, lang.en_pt, and lang.pt_en where "pt" is also replaced by some other two-letter language codes. .../r12 contains the files for French.
In the file browser, at e.g. .../r11, Select All and choose Move, and move them to the similar path on internal memory (which works out to be /storage/emulated/0/Android/data/com.google.android.apps.translate/files/olpv3/v5/25/r11) and also move the other revisions (e.g. .../r12 on the SD card to .../r12 on internal memory). The app itself can still be running on the SD card, but for some reason it can't find the offline translation files there.
Try to de-install the app and then re-install it, incl. the offline language packs that you need. Make sure that all the time, the SD card is in the phone and mounted, otherwise it doesn't work. In my case, after re-installation, Android had created folders for the app in the phone's internal storage as well as on the external SD card. But all the offline language packs were placed automatically on the SD card only. Now offline translation works fine and the error message that you mention in your post doesn't show up any more.

Please note that if you have project branching feature enabled, there are certain restrictions to the XLIFF files uploading process. Specifically, if you have downloaded the offline translation file from branch_a, this file can only be uploaded to branch_a but not to any other branches. Similarly, a file downloaded from branch_b can be uploaded only to branch_b, but not to branch_a.
If you are using Trados Studio it's advised to enable Do not store segmentation information in the translated file option which can be found under Options > File types > XLIFF > Settings. Otherwise your XLIFF file won't be properly imported to Lokalise.
There is no automatic translation for the offline form message. The English version of this message is used for the offline message by default. You can localize this text with custom code using the API as noted in the developer documentation for the offline form in Chat.
