With Hue Sync, syncing the content on your computer monitor or laptop with the best smart light bulbs is quite easy to do. Whether you have regular bulbs or even a lightstrip installed behind your monitor, you can create your own light show at home.
After picking your lights, you can adjust their position in your room and you can also adjust their height using the app. This step is particularly important as where you place your lights will determine how they sync with the content on your monitor or laptop.
When the app starts, you can choose whether you want to sync your lights with Scenes, Games, Music or Video. Underneath these options, you can choose the intensity with options for subtle, moderate, high or extreme depending on your preference. There is also a toggle that can be enabled to use audio for effect.
5. Start light sync. With everything configured and set up, just click the Start light sync button at the bottom of the app to begin using Hue Sync. You can always adjust your sync settings if the lights are changing too fast or not fast enough. At the same time, you can also change the type of content the app is syncing with if you switch from watching a video to playing a game or listening to music.
I have exactly the same issue with my new hue play lights. I even got an rma for the bridge, thinking there could be some issue with it after reading several posts. What was my surprise when I noticed the same issue with the new bridge. The first setup is perfectly done, but the next ones not. Hue sync keeps trying to connect to the bridge but it does not work.
A Philips Hue bridge is a device that controls Philips Hue lights. Hue Sync is a software in the PC that enables you to control the lights (and sync colors from the PC with the lights - for example, if you watch a movie or listen to music, it will sync the lights in rythm).
I always had it set to the default display (my middle one) and it worked fine. Today I disconnected my monitors to do something with my desk, reconnected them in the same place, started my computer and now light sync wont work.
Most folks will use the refreshingly simple Hue Sync desktop app. You can choose Scenes, as with other Hue lights, which are suited to different activities or are just moody blends of colors. But there are also modes for syncing with various types of content.
The real reason to snag the Philips Hue Play Gradient Lightstrip for PC is for light syncing, and the desktop app has modes for Games, Music, and Video. Within each mode, you can select Subtle, Moderate, High, or Extreme and tap a button to begin syncing. These options determine how frequently the lightstrip tries to match the onscreen action or the audio you are playing.
Based on our testing, the results are usually pretty good, though games and movies with more gradual color changes work best. You can always go back to the Hue app on your phone to tweak the entertainment area settings, as well as adjusting the options in the desktop app, to try and improve the results.
There is kind a janky way to accomplish this that I use. I run the Hue Sync app on my desktop PC, and then group the default sound output of my PC with whatever device I am currently listening on. I also have a set of Nanoleaf lights that I have plugged into that sound output so those get animated as well.
By default, your Windows PC syncs to your iPod touch whenever you connect them. You can have iTunes ask you before syncing, and if there are some items you never want sync, you can keep them from being synced. See Sync iTunes content on PC with your devices in the iTunes User Guide for Windows.
Update: today, Philips Hue has an app, and Philips Hue Sync Box has separate app. Looks like functionality of Sync Box app will get folded into Philips Hue app and deprecated as a bespoke app. You'll soon be able to control your Philips Hue sync box from the main app Engadget. Would this happen to make it easier to integrate Philips Hue Sync into Roomie Remote?
I am writing this post because I am experiencing some troubles with philips hue sync in combination with the apple tv app and was wondering if someone could help me. I tried to sync my lights while watching a movie on my mac (through the apple tv app) and I soon as I turned the sync on, I had a black screen. Did someone experience the same issue and has found a solution?
However, since most people would like to have the same ability to sync things to their Philips Hue lights without the need to purchase hardware, this article is going to show you how you can do just that.
Using Philips Hue lights synced with your computer would let you create an impressive, immersive movie-watching experience in your family room. If you want to throw a house party, the lights synced with the music are sure to impress your guests.
There is one major drawback to consider when using the desktop Philips Hue Sync app rather than buying a Hue Sync box. Streaming to an actual TV becomes almost impossible. However, there is a way around that.
The best Windows Hue app on the market at the moment. I have used a couple of other Hue app on Windows, and this is the best of them, I have it installed on my 950XL, Surface Pro, desktop and Xbox One, and will also purchase this app for my wife for her 950, Surface Pro and Xbox. After my first submission I contacted the dev and suggested a timer function, this has now been added and I can happily say this app is now my exclusive Hue app, as mentioned it runs on my 950XL, Surface Pro 3, desktop PC and Xbox One and I can happily give this app 10 out of 5. Well done HueDynamic on a really impressive Universal app.
Adaptive sync is a better solution. A display with adaptive sync can change its refresh rate in response to how fast your graphics card is pumping out frames. If your GPU sends over 43 frames per second, your monitor displays those 43 frames, rather than forcing 60 refreshes per second. Adaptive sync stops screen tearing by preventing the display from refreshing with partial information from multiple frames but, unlike with V-Sync, each frame is shown immediately.
This is how all G-Sync displays worked when Nvidia brought the technology to market in 2013. Unlike Nvidia G-Sync Compatible monitors, which often (unofficially) works with AMD Radeon GPUs, G-Sync is unique and proprietary. It only supports adaptive sync with Nvidia graphics hardware.
The developer of this add-on is looking to extend functionality in future releases. One suggested idea is allow light events to be triggered by a task or process on the desktop. For example, your study light could blink each time a new mail notification arrives.
Qsync enables efficient file synchronization between a QNAP NAS and linked devices such as computers, laptops, and mobile devices. With Qsync, you can easily access data across all your devices and share it among your team members.
Simply install the Qsync Central app to use your NAS like a private cloud storage environment (such as Dropbox, Microsoft OneDrive, or Apple iCloud Drive) for real-time file sync and sharing without compromise. Your NAS centrally stores files and distributes them across all your authorized devices. With the companion Qsync utility on your computers and Qfile Pro mobile app on your phones, your devices are linked with the NAS for file syncing and keeping shared files/data up-to-date.
In Qsync Central, you can configure management settings such as conflict policies and filter settings. Each device can have its own settings, or you can apply centralized settings to all devices. An optional password can be used to protect centralized settings. If you accidentally lose a connected device, a remote erase function is available to ensure that no one gets access to personal/organizational data.
Qsync enables file sync between QNAP NAS and other end devices. To sync NAS-based data to another NAS or to the cloud we recommend using our critically-acclaimed data backup/restore/sync app Hybrid Backup Sync (HBS). With data deduplication (QuDedup), TCP BBR support, encryption, auto port selection, and more future-proof functionality, HBS ensures that your data is safe and secure.
Space-Saving Mode allows you to save disk space on your computer, synchronize files faster, and avoid unnecessary server load by only downloading files to your device when they are accessed/opened. Space-Saving Mode is supported by Qsync Client 5.0.0 (or later) and requires Windows 10 version 1909 (or later) or macOS 10.14 (or later). Learn More
