For PoM exam, study all questions from all assessments, and from other batches' question papers also. Attached material, in addition to material emailed before each assess, should cover a majority of the portions. Attached material is from "Principles of Management" by Dr. G. K. Vijayaraghavan and M. Sivakmar. You can see this book if you have it; don't worry if you don't, attached material should be sufficient, along with material sent for assessments.
The following topics are important. Study all of them. In exam, attend for full 100 marks. Even if some unfamiliar question comes, write general management stuff relevant to the question. Ensure that you attend all questions.
Very Important:
Steps involved in the objectives of management (I think this is from first assess material, check; there is a portion on objectives in attached material also, better study both); contributions of Henry Fayol and Taylor; delegation of authority; motivational theories - Maslow's theory, Herzberg's theory; budget - zero base budgeting; production; difference between production and productivity; MBO process; strategic planning process; span of control; performance appraisal techniques; forecasting techniques for decision-making, quantitative forecasting tehniques.
Important:
Contributions of experts - Taylor, Fayol, Gantt, Frank & Lillian Gilbreth etc.; nature, scope and functions of management; Fayol's 14 principles of management; Vroom's theory; communication flow in an organization.
Go through syllabus book, units 1 to 5, to get an overview of what each unit is about. When unfamiliar questions come, this will help you answer them.
I got the following message from cd batch rep; we will have same pom paper as CS, and the CS people have been given the following important 16 marks; they don't cover all units; I suggest that you treat this information as secondary.
Organizational and environmental factors affecting organization; MBO; organization structure; motivation theories and leadership theories; budgetary and non-budgetary.
