Hi Czarek,

I'm a bit worried concerning the future of cefpython. The project has migrated to github but it seems frozen as well on google groups. Moreover windows and mac installers are not anymore available.

So what is the state of cefpython now ? Have you planned to release a new version build against an earlier version of cef ? Or have you decided to discontinue it ?

Hope you are always motivated to work on this project because cefpython is a great tool.

Thanks.

Windows installers are still available for download: https://drive.google.com/folderview?id=0B1di2XiBBfacM3VabU9YS042MHM&usp=drive_web&tid=0B1di2XiBBfacOFpJb1dERGZSRnc#list

No, it's not abandoned. However, recently I've been having trouble finding time to work on it. Last release was in January, so yeah that is quite a long time. I want to make a new release this year.

Hi Czarek,

thanks for your note on the planned update. How realistic is a release this year? How could we help?

Thanks,
David

I will know for certain in two weeks.

I wanted to introduce git branching before the update, see:

Hi Czarek,

Just wanted to weigh in here and say that CEFpython is a fantastic project which has helped many developers. Looking forward to future updates from the project!

Hi Czarek,

I have taken your project and updated it for different releases of cef. like 2272, 2357, 2454 and 2526. But i have done it in commits(not git branches) and there are many things i have left behind because it was not a requirement for my work. I am not sure how to publish my work to (may be) help you speedup the update.

@sidreesshah, If you can publish the code on github or similar, I can take a look.

I have put my code on bitbucket. The url is: https://bitbucket.org/idrissha/cefpython. If you want i can create git pull requests.

Thanks Syed. I've looked at the first commit fd7f93257ce801b5eebf9c35819149deaec98517. I see some specific changes for your use case that should not be merged. Also some features are disabled (devtools) and some functions removed and that breaks BC (ParentWindowWillClose should stay and do just nothing). I have a few questions, but I don't see a way to comment on your commits. I wanted to reference changes in a specific file in a commit, but the "Side-by-side diff" button doesn't work, as there is so many changes in the commit that bitbucket displays a message like this "Oops! You've got a lot of code in this diff and it couldn't load with the page. Click here to give it another chance.".

Hi Czarek,
Thanks for your reply. Its great that you are looking at my changes. In order to comment on the code, you need to signup on bitbucket. Then by going through (hovering the mouse on line numbers) the changes you can locate + button on the left side(not the changeset +).

If you click on the "Oops! You've got a lot of code in this diff and it couldn't load with the page. Click here to give it another chance.". It should open the file you are interested in. Looking forward to your comments :-).

Chrome 47 release of cefpython will be ready in one month. I've created the "Chrome 47" milestone on GitHub, see it for progress (9 issues as of now): https://github.com/cztomczak/cefpython/milestones/Chrome%2047

@sidreesshah: I will review your code soon. I've created Issue #195 and we can further discuss it there: https://github.com/cztomczak/cefpython/issues/195

Andy,

CEF Python was updated to Chrome v51, but only Linux was tested so far. Build instructions are in docs/.
