Hey Rural Democrats!

We're a day early but tomorrow, the Rural Caucus is headed to Springfield for Democrat Days, hosted by the Greene County Democratic Party. We rented a booth so if you attend, be sure to stop by and say hi!

Last night, Missouri Democratic Chair, Russ Carnahan, had a virtual meeting with all the county chairs and vice chairs. He shared MDP goals in training and outreach. What was nice is he left a lot of time open for Q&A. It was a great opportunity to connect with other counties! He plans to have these meetings quarterly.

Here's an LTE our vice-chair wrote to her local newspaper in Benton County: LTE, 4/13/2023 - Google Docs Feel free to tweak it or copy/paste as is to submit to your local newspaper. Info in the LTE is from Rep. Peter Meredith and archived videos.

Our first Community Educational Forum is Sat., April 15, at the Fox Playhouse in Nevada from 1 p.m. - 4 p.m. Vernon County Chair, Clarisse Teepe-Frybear, has put a ton of time and effort in helping to shape the program. We couldn't have done it without her! After a great brainstorming phone call with Crystal Robinson from Carter County, our vice-chair, Jacqueline Farr, is headed down to Van Buren on Mon., April 24th, to discuss the next forum. They're raring to go! It'd be great if Democrats in counties: Butler, Oregon, Ripley, Reynolds, Shannon and Wayne, would attend!

And let's not forget MO AG's ridiculous "Emergency Regulation on Gender Transition Interventions for Minors". Happy Friday Rural Democrats!

Well turn us over and paint us blue - the MO Senate restored the $4.5 million in library funding. This is great news. In fact, there's some other good news that came out of hearings: Senate committee rejects anti-DEI language, restores library funds in Missouri budget • Missouri Independent

The newsletter is going to be shorter than normal. Our monthly virtual meeting is tomorrow at 2 p.m. Our guest speaker will be MDP Chair, Russ Carnahan. MDP Rural Caucus Meeting, Apr 22, 2 p.m. Zoom Meeting:
We hope everyone can attend! Tara Anura resigned as secretary but we won't hold elections during the meeting. The chair would first like to discuss the duties and expectations of being the secretary.
