Only 10 more days to Christmas, Rural Democrats!

This will be our last newsletter of the year. There's a few things we want to make sure everyone has information on.

At the time of this writing, the Democratic National Committee has yet to approve MDP's Presidential Primary and Delegate Selection Plan. To ensure everyone is on the same page, MDP prepared a one-pager One Page Summary December Call to Action.pdf - Google Drive summarizing the main points, as well as slides County Chair Call December 2023.pptx - Google Slides. The Rural Caucus will be helping with this but we're not quite sure how it will look like yet. Also, Camp Carnahan (Feb. 24th and 25th) will be not only for candidates but for campaign managers and grassroot activists as well.

As you know, the Democratic National Convention will be held in Chicago from Aug. 19-24, 2024, and they're recruiting for volunteers. They will have a virtual volunteer information session on Dec. 18, 6 p.m. More details and signup for the meeting here: DNC Chicago 2024 - Google Docs.

The youth vote continues to play a major role in Democrats’ electoral success but overall appear less motivated to vote in next year’s presidential elections – except when the issue of abortion is on the ballot: Young Voters See Abortion as Key Motivating Factor, Poll Finds | Politics | U.S. News (usnews.com) And Republicans are trying harder than ever to suppress the youth vote: Republicans are doing more than ever to suppress the youth vote (msnbc.com). Our grassroots organizers and activists must highlight how Republicans are undermining their voting rights.

The group order form for the new Rural Caucus t-shirts is up and ready to go: Custom Ink Group Orders - MDP Rural Caucus New T-Shirts.

Our next meeting will be Sat., Jan. 20 at 2 p.m. Rural Urban Bridge Initiative Co-Founder and Executive Director Anthony Flaccavento will be our guest speaker. We'll be discussing and booking the Community Forums.

Don't forget folks, you can pay your 2024 Rural Caucus $10 dues anytime: Missouri Democratic Party Rural Caucus — Donate via ActBlue. Your support will help us travel to communities and build a sustainable presence. The members that have a recurring monthly donation don't need to worry about the dues.

Now...get out there, elbow your way through the crowds and get that last minute shopping done!
