Dear colleagues,
We are excited to announce the 2026 ECGI Data Challenge, which will take place in conjunction with the ECGI Summit in Valencia, Spain (November 2026).
This challenge aims to bring together the ECGI community to benchmark and advance ECGI methodologies using a centralized set of high-quality datasets. Participants will have the opportunity to showcase their ECGI workflows, compare performance across standardized data, and contribute to a broader effort to evaluate the current state of the art.
The objective of the challenge this year is to find the best ECGI (and post-processing) methods to accurately localize PVCs. Five experimental and clinical datasets have been provided for the challenge by teams in Utah, Bordeaux, Auckland, Bratislava, and Halifax. Each data set includes body surface potentials, heart–torso geometries, and ground truth pacing or ablation sites. Additional data, such as epicardial electrograms, may be provided depending on the data set. Data will be split into training, and testing sets, with hidden testing labels to ensure fair benchmarking. A leaderboard will be maintained throughout the challenge.
We strongly encourage participants to share code openly when possible and to contribute to a planned summary publication following the challenge.
Key dates/Deadlines (subject to change):
  • Challenge release: May 2026
  • eAbstract submission: September 2026
  • Test submission opens: October 2026
  • Final Test submission deadline: November 1, 2026
  • Winners announced: November 25, 2026 (at the ECGI Summit)
Further details on how to participate and register your submissions will be provided shortly. The main source of info will be the challenge page (https://www.ecg-imaging.org/community/ecgi-data-challenge). Please note, at least one team member is expected to attend the ECGI summit in person and all valid submissions will require an abstract submission. This submission is different from the ECGI summit abstract submission with a later due date.
We look forward to your participation and to advancing ECGI research together.
