New Event Announcement:

'In Search of Spiders'
An Overnight Camp led by expert Spider Researchers.

Date: 30th - 31st August (Saturday - Sunday)
Time: Saturday 03.45 pm till Sunday 11.00 am.

Given the time of the year, the forests of the BNHS Nature Reserve and SGNP are unleashing 'Spider Mania'! And to make the most of this season, the Conservation Education Centre (CEC) of BNHS invites you to the camp 'Search of Spiders'; an overnight camp designed for arachnophiles and nature enthusiasts. This unique camp offers an exciting opportunity to explore spider habitats, learn how to scientifically sample and identify spiders like a trained arachnologist, and gain deeper insight into their fascinating behaviours. Join us for an incredible experience amidst the vibrant monsoon landscape and discover the incredible diversity of these eight-legged critters.

Camp Costs:
INR 2,0
00/- per head (for non-member)
INR 1,800/- per head (for BNHS Members)
(inclusive of dormitory accommodation, all sessions, resource people, equipment)
NOTE: For food arrangements, participants need to pay separately a fee of
Rs. 450 per head during the camp itself. 
 

Itinerary:
Day 1 (Saturday) 30th August 2025
03.30 PM -- Reporting at the CEC
04.00 PM -- Registrations (tea and coffee)
04.15 PM -- AV - Amazing world of Spiders
05.30 PM -- Nature Walk to find spiders and other invertebrates
06.30 PM -- Refreshments
07.00 PM -- Setting Up Spider and Invertebrate Stations
08.15 PM -- Dinner
09.10 PM -- Night Walk seeking spiders
10.45 PM -- Back to CEC (Q&A session) Lights Out.
Day 2 (Sunday) 31st August 2025 
06.00 AM -- Nature Trail seeking spiders (checking spider stations)
08.30 AM -- Identifying Spiders and their types.
09.00 AM -- Breakfast
10.00 AM -- Q/A session - Disperse

Maximum number of participants: 23

Information and Instructions:
-- Clean Hygienic, separate large dormitory rooms for males and femaleswith full bedding. 
(advisable to carry your warm clothing).
-- Clean and Hygienic toilets and bathrooms; separate for males and females.
-- Meals and Refreshments: Simple, hygienic, sumptuous vegetarian meals will be provided (extra cost of INR 400 per head to be paid during the camp).
-- Though 
not needed, Campers may carry their own dry-snacks as well.
-- Full length, cotton clothes are advised for campers. Wear proper shoes.
-- Do carry your torch.
-- Rain coats will be useful. Umbrellas can be cumbersome on the trails.

Resource persons:
-- This camp will be led by renowned Spider Researchers.
-- And will be assisted by expert naturalists from the BNHS stables.
