Hello,

My name is Michael Eisenberg. I am a writer and curator whose work focuses on acousmatic music and related electroacoustic practices.

For more than thirty-five years, I have been deeply engaged with acousmatic music as a listener. Since first encountering the work of Bernard Parmegiani, I have been fascinated by a simple question: what can happen when listeners engage sounds whose causes and sources remain hidden? Much of my writing explores the relationship between listener and sound, and the imaginative possibilities that emerge within the acousmatic situation.

In March 2025, I initiated an open call for submissions from artists working in acousmatic music. I expected perhaps ten or twenty submissions. Instead, I received more than sixty works from composers around the world. Encouraged by that response, I created Acousmatic Crossings, an ongoing series published through Metapsychosis: Journal of Consciousness, Literature, and Art.

The series has been running since March 2025 and is scheduled to continue through November 2026. New installments are published every two weeks and feature a diverse range of artists, from emerging voices to well-established practitioners. Alongside each work, I provide reflections intended to encourage deeper listening and greater public engagement with acousmatic music.

I am reaching out because I believe the series may be of interest to your organization and community. If the project resonates with your mission, I would be grateful if you would consider sharing it with colleagues, students, members, or others interested in acousmatic and electroacoustic music.

You can explore the series here:

I would be happy to answer any questions about the project and would welcome the opportunity to discuss it further.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Best regards,

Michael Eisenberg
