Submit to SPLICE Festival VII - https://splicemusic.org/festival/call
SPLICE is excited to announce a call for proposals for its seventh annual SPLICE Festival, taking place at Colby College in Waterville Maine, Thursday-Saturday March 5-7, 2026. SPLICE welcomes proposals from both dancers and musicians (composers, performers, and composer-performers) for works that feature live performance and electronics, ninety-minute hands-on workshops, and fifteen-minute lectures.
SPLICE Festival will include five concerts, along with presentations and hands-on workshop sessions. Concerts will feature performances selected from submitted works, a curated concert by the SPLICE Ensemble in partnership with the Portland Ballet, and a concert specifically dedicated to collaborative improvisation. Presentations and workshops will serve Colby College students, festival attendees, and the general community of Waterville.
There is no application fee and no registration fee. However, participants are asked to be in attendance for the duration of the Festival.
IMPORTANT NOTE: SPLICE Festival is distinct from our week-long intensive summer Institute. SPLICE Festival essentially follows a music conference paradigm, offering 3 days of concerts, lectures, and workshops at a different host institution each year. This year it happens to be at the same institution as our annual SPLICE Institute. See below for details!
DEADLINE: November 10 at 11:59 PM EST
Submissions are invited from the following categories:

Dance Performance: Dancers may apply solo or as an ensemble, either with musicians or without. All performances must include electronics (either pre-recorded or generative).
Improvisation Concert: One concert will be dedicated to collaborative improvisation. We will be pairing dancers with musicians to improvise a new work together. Spaces will be available for participants to arrive a day early to meet and rehearse.
Lecture Presentations: 15-minute lecture presentations may focus on any aspect of technology related to music or dance. This may include (but is not limited to) performance, creative practices, software, or hardware. Lecture presentations are not required to focus on works presented at the Festival.
