M.S. in Music Technology
Temple University’s Boyer College of Music and Dance invites applications for our Master of Science in Music Technology program. This program offers students an opportunity to further advance their experience and understanding of music technology research and practice at the graduate level. Working with world-class faculty mentors, students prepare for professional work, as well as for the possibility of entrance into a doctoral program, through specialized research, creative work, and practical experience in the field in the vibrant arts community here in Philadelphia.
Program Features:
- Courses in Advanced Audio Production, Digital Signal Processing, Acoustics and Psychoacoustics, Audio Software Design, Physical Computing and Electronic Instrument Design, Electronic Music Ensemble, Composition, Theory, and Musicology, among others
- Perform with the music technology ensemble, BEEP, which has been featured at the Andy Warhol Exhibition opening in Beijing, China, the Art Factory in Daegu, South Korea at ICMC, SEAMUS, and other notable festivals and conferences around the US
- Mixing classes offered by Grammy-, Emmy-, and Peabody-award-winning engineer, John Harris.
- Two year, 31-credit degree program
- Our faculty include Patrick de Caumette, John Harris, Sandra James, David McDonnell, David Pasbrig, Hadi Sumoro, Adam Vidiksis, Sam Wells, and Maurice Wright.
Financing Opportunities: We offer scholarships and other forms of financial aid to our MS in Music Technology students who qualify.
Requirements: Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree in music with a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0. Competitive applicants should possess an undergraduate cumulative GPA of 3.33 or higher.
Application Deadline: February 1 (Fall admission, priority). Applications and supporting admission credentials will be accepted on a rolling basis until the class is filled. However, priority Fall admission consideration will be given to those applicants who submit all admission credentials by February 1.
