M.S. in Music Technology
Temple University’s Boyer College of Music and Dance welcomes applications for the Master of Science in Music Technology program. This innovative degree prepares students to advance the art and science of music technology through creative practice, research, and collaboration. Combining technical expertise with artistic exploration, the program fosters a deep understanding of sound, design, and performance in contemporary music contexts. Emphasizing a multi-stylistic, collaborative environment, students work closely with distinguished faculty and artists to develop original projects, engage with cutting-edge technologies, and take part in Philadelphia’s vibrant arts community.
Program Features
- Advanced coursework in audio production, digital signal processing, acoustics and psychoacoustics, audio software design, physical computing and electronic instrument design, composition, theory, and musicology.
- The opportunity to study closely with active faculty across diverse areas of music technology—including production, engineering, composition, performance, and design—who are recognized leaders in their fields.
- Performance and collaboration opportunities with the Boyer Electroacoustic Ensemble Project (BEEP), featured at the Andy Warhol Exhibition opening in Beijing, the Art Factory in Daegu, and major international festivals including ICMC and SEAMUS.
- Mixing and production courses led by Grammy-, Emmy-, and Peabody Award–winning engineer John Harris.
- Access to world-class immersive, commercial, and experimental recording, performance, and research facilities located in the heart of Philadelphia.
- A focused, two-year, 31-credit degree program emphasizing hands-on creative and technical experience.

Financing Opportunities
Scholarships, teaching assistantships, and other forms of financial aid are available to qualified students.
Admission Requirements
Applicants should hold a bachelor’s degree in music with a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0. Competitive applicants typically have a GPA of 3.33 or higher.
Application Deadline
February 1 (priority deadline for fall admission). Applications and supporting materials will be accepted on a rolling basis until the class is filled. Women, underrepresented minorities, and persons with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
