Dear DCT and TDs,

We need your help! The Coronavirus Pandemic (COVID-19) has created a number of challenges for health service psychology doctoral students and training programs. This survey, “Impact of COVID-19 Pandemic on Student Education, Training, and Wellness,” is meant to help us understand current stressors and challenges for students/trainees. Given the impact of physical, emotional, and financial stress on health and well-being, this should be an important and illuminating survey. Please forward the note below to all of your current graduate students, interns, and trainees so that they have the opportunity to complete the survey, if they wish, by May 31th, 2020. Two follow up surveys will be sent out approximately six (6) and twelve (12) weeks after the initial survey is completed.

Thanks for your help!

------------------------------NOTE TO GRAD STUDENTS---------------------------------------------------
Hello!

Your Director of Clinical Training (DCT) or Training Director (TD) was asked to forward you this survey. We invite you to participate in a brief survey (less than 30 minutes) to help understand the “Impact of COVID-19 Pandemic on Student Education, Training, and Wellness.” This research is being conducted by student representatives of the Council of University Directors of Clinical Psychology (CUDCP) and the CUDCP Executive Board. Although participation might not benefit you directly, we believe the information gleaned from this study will help better understand the relationship of physical, emotional, and financial stress to health service psychology graduate students’ and trainees' wellbeing. Summaries of responses will be shared with all training councils in health service psychology. Please see this study as an important way to anonymously provide programs with feedback regarding your experiences.

You will be asked a series of questions about your experiences with COVID-19, challenges to training that the pandemic has caused, physical and emotional stressors, and finances in graduate school, as well as your health and utilization of health services. You may experience some distress when reporting on your mental and physical health. It is of note that you are free to withdraw from the study at any time without penalty and that your participation is strictly voluntary. In addition, your responses will be anonymous and securely stored. However, as with all internet communication, it is possible that through intent or accident someone other than the intended recipient could see your response. Please do not disclose any confidential or identifying information about yourself or others. Completion of the survey indicates your willingness to take part in this study and that you are at least 18 years old. If you choose, at the end of the survey you may follow a link to another survey where you may enter your email address to be entered into a drawing to receive one of eight $25 Amazon e-gift cards; all participants will have an equal opportunity to win. Your email address will not be associated with your responses. Two follow up surveys will be sent out approximately six (6) and twelve (12) weeks after the initial survey is completed.

You may contact the principal investigator of this study, Dr. Edward Selby, at edward...@rutgers.edu with any questions.

This project has been reviewed and approved by the Rutgers University – New Brunswick Institutional Review Board (IRB).
