The oldest script dates to 400 AD during Lichhavi period. Kathmadu city was founded on 724 AD by King Gunakamadev. But the Mahabharat text has it that King Yalember of Kathmandu valley also took part in the war of Kaurave and Pandavas, denoting human activities for more than 2700 years before.
