People, what are you talking about? This isn't a bug... this is a brand new exercise routine for your sims! Pick up the dishes, put them down, pick up the dishes, put them down, now take a deep breath... and let it out... now resume... pick up the dishes, put them down...
To be serious, this is really getting annoying. I'm playing as I type this, letting the autonomy do its thing, and one of my sims is standing in the kitchen doing nothing but picking up and putting down some dishes. He stood there for at least 2 in-game hours before going to use the computer, but then that didn't last long and he was right back in the kitchen doing the latest craze in fitness. Luckily his wife is awake now so that they can interact, because if there's one thing that he seems even more obsessed with it's interacting with his wife. Well he was interacting with his wife, until he got some water now he seems confused about what to do with the glass so he's just standing there again... great.
At first I thought it was just from them trying autonomously, but even trying to manually have them do it doesn't work either. It's a good thing for the live drag feature, because without it my sims' homes would be giant piles of dishes. Unfortunately though, because of the live drag I don't expect this problem to be fixed since it seems that so many players are willing to accept workarounds as a permanent solution.
I'm playing on an Xbox One with whatever the latest update is, and I feel like this problem started recently so I can't help but wonder if the latest update caused this. I also only have one pack, Kids Room Stuff, so I doubt the problem is pack specific.
Yes. I am having this issue in 2 different saves now. Sims are leaving dirty dishes on the tables and counters. I click the dish and choose clean up. Then my sim picks up the dish and immediately puts it down. Or sometimes they will gather the dishes and then put the dishes down in a pile in washed. If I click and drag the dishes to the counter right next to the sink and then click clean up they will clean up. So the sink is usable. There is also nothing visible in the way blocking them from the sink and plenty of empty counter space. In one save when I did move the dishes closer to the sink the sim picked up the dishes and then walked in a kind of square pattern over to the sink. On the way it almost looked like the sim bumped up. Like there was an invisible object on the floor they were having trouble routing over? I only saw that once and maybe it was my imagination. But it was reminiscent of when I play Second Life and we get a bug that makes an invisible object. I don't know if this happens in the Sims.
@AngelMarie13 There's likely a dirty plate somewhere they can't reach. Sims are all-or-nothing: tell them to wash the dishes and they will either collect every dirty plate on the lot or give up and wash nothing.
Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Often (50% - 99%)
What is your current game version number? 1.97.42.1030
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? everything except wedding stories and most kits
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? have a lot of dishes that need to be cleaned. have access to both a sink and a dishwasher. command sim to clean up dishes.
What happens when the bug occurs? Sims will not clean up dishes despite having an available sink and dishwasher. This happens 100% of the time when there are more than like 2 or 3 dishes, and about 50% of the time with a single dish. Just picks them up and puts them down over and over. See video.
What do you expect to see? Sims washing dishes.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure
Come on. Just why. They can access both the sink and dishwasher, and there's another sink in a bathroom nearby. They will usually wash a single dish, but if there are multiple dirty dishes, they will not clean them up anymore. Sometimes they'll start stacking them, but they will never wash them by hand or use the dishwasher.
I don't work or have any association with EA. I give advice to the best of my knowledge and cannot be held responsible for any damage done to your computer/game.
Please only contact me via PM when asked to do so.
TIP: If you have no sinks in the house, they will take the plates to the trashcan. A quick way to get rid of the plates is that if you kick over the trashcan the plates will just disappear OR if you store all the doors and remove all sinks from the room then the plates should disappear!
Once you have completed the whole collection you will get 5LPs (you need to complete this hobby once to unlock chopping boards before you start earning LPs when you complete it) with lots of sims you can complete this collection in under an hour!
Once your sim gets to level 6 cooking it is a good idea to put them onto a different hobby for one go at that, I use the ghost hunters hobby as it is quite quick too, then I go back to cooking to start from level 1 again.
You have to complete life dreams then your sim needs to move on to the afterlife to get the orb they earned, you can then keep it as it is or upgrade it by giving it to another sim (giving a bronze to a sim, if they complete their life dreams you will end up with a silver orb)
I have a Courtesy House and a Haunted Mansion/Hotel, and have unlocked a lot of things, currently doing the Mall Quest, have lots of Sims earning their Life Dreams to get the orbs needed to unlock the Beach, Arcade etc.
Thanks so much for your post! I figured out how to get to 500 LPs by ghost hunting, which seems pretty fast, but I like your way better and going to try it now!
1. Do you have any tips on getting more simoleons faster now? I just have a bunch of sims growing onions every night, and have used LPs to grow the golden carrots, but not getting enough to redesign the houses!!!
2. Also, do you know how to build a pre-designed house in an empty lot? Is there any way to do it?
You are the best and I love your site.
Every time I complete a collection of cooking accessories, I visit my other sims to restart their actions, then return to my cooking house for the next collection. In a couple of hours, I typically earn S40,000-50,000 and at least 50 LPs. Most of that comes from the cooking hobby, which I complete at least 7 times in two hours, or as many as 9 times. My fastest time to complete a collection was actually 5 minutes.
As another poster mentioned I clean after each collection. As it gets crowded they cancel their own actions. I have had high towers of plates with black rings but no problem with speed. I use an andriod platform though. Not sure if that makes a difference.
My cook house also has a mini break room with chairs and sofas. I also keep a 5 set of fridges, coffee makers and bathroom for when it comes time to inspire them before going to work. Goes much quicker. I also have plots for planting when I am away.
This site is brilliant, thank you. Having a cook house has transformed my game, I can now have all the LPs and Simoleons I need. The added bonuses to doing constant 1 minute cooking with 10 Sims is all the other extras it provides, I level up quickly because of all the XPs, I get tons of resources for my island monuments, the amount of LPs I make means I can skip social tasks if I want to get the SPs quickly. Happy days!
You have to complete the cooking hobby once to unlock chopping boards, so just keep cooking and once she is at level 6 you can collect all the pieces then each time you complete the hobby after the first time you get 5LPs.
I think ghost hunting is the best way to earn LPs. You just have to wait for 2 minutes (if you have 3 stars-rated haunted items) and you dont have to leave a bunch of plates behind to clean. Only the hobby makes a noisy sound when my sims are searching for the ghosts. I would rather turn my speaker off.
I agree it takes a while to get to level 6 the first time but it is worth it!
You can have as many sims as you want doing the cooking hobby at once, you can have 10 sims in one house at a time doing it
Food is a vital substance for Sims to consume, as it replenishes their hunger need. Over time, a Sim's hunger need will deplete. In the long run, not consuming food will cause a Sim to die of starvation. Throughout the series, food comes in a number of varieties, such as cooked meals, instant meals, snacks, and raw ingredients.
Initially, food only served to replenish a Sim's hunger. Later series enhanced the mechanism of food, such as requiring ingredients for cooking, changing a Sim's fitness and body shape, and giving special effects and benefits to Sims who eat certain food.
Food is usually obtained from a refrigerator, and depending on the recipe, will need to be prepared on a preparation surface or food processor, and/or be cooked using a stove or microwave. Sims can choose to have a meal, which will produce a single serving for themselves, or serve a meal, which will produce a serving platter that up to six Sims (eight in later games) can get plates from. Sims can also choose to have a quick meal that requires minimal cooking, or obtain a snack that requires no preparation. In general, foods that require preparation and cooking are better at satisfying the hunger need than quickly prepared foods.
