Ne croyez jamais, jamais, qu'une guerre est simple et sans encombre, ou que celui qui s'embarque dans cet étrange voyage mesure les marées et les tempêtes qu'il rencontrera. L'homme d'État emporté par la fièvre de la guerre doit comprendre qu'une fois le signal donné il n'est plus le maître de sa stratégie mais l'esclave d'événements imprévisibles et incontrôlables.
