Citation du Jour / Quote of the Day

[Jean-Jacques Auffret]

Love is a verb.

1) ça me paraissait évident,

was the quote of the day last Monday, and I did not translate it in French because

1) it was quite obvious,

2) and yet not easy

3) and it is known to all that any extra effort can be dangerous on the first day back to work.

but Céline Couderc proposed this one from an obscure 19th century poet, which fits the bill:

Aimer, c'est agir.

Victor Hugo (1802-1885)

So thank you Victor and Céline! (I let the reader translate this, too)

The "Quote of the Day" is one of JJA's personal projects. It consists in sending a quote of his choice every working day to whoever might be interested through a free subscription list (send an email to cdj-qod+...@googlegroups.com to subscribe, to cdj-qod+u...@googlegroups.com to unsubscribe or to jjau...@gmail.com if automatic enrollment frightens you). Quotes in italic are a best-effort translation. If you like a quote, make the community grow by sharing it with others, that's what they are made for.
