Hi All,

As I discussed with some of you in seminar last week, there is a question regarding the need to complete a “Teacher Performance Assessment” (edTPA) in order to obtain your TSSLD certification. Dr. Schlisselberg helped me with this one by contacting some other clinic directors who have the same question.

Here are the results – A supervisor from the New York State Education department reported that the committee formed for the new standards has discussed removing TSSLD from this requirement. It seems that the committee is in agreement but an official vote needs to be completed before information can be posted on the website. This post may not occur for a couple of months, but it looks like it will be agreed upon. No edTPA will be required.

Again, just to clarify, the LAST & ATS-W will no longer be accepted. Everyone must complete the EAS (Educating All Students) test and the ALST (Academic Literacy Skills Test). The new exams are scheduled to be available as of 9/23/13.

I hope this clarifies things for you. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Although we still have to take the new exams, it is definitely a relief to know that the video assessment portion will be omitted!
