If
China wants to make the next step from being the “factory of the world”
and to escape the “middle income trap”, the key to success is
innovation. At present China is still highly dependent on foreign
know-how and technology. Added value produced domestically is often
still low. Creativity and innovations are required to develop new
products and create strong indigenous brands. The challenges go far
beyond, as innovations in society and politics are necessary as well.
How to increase the innovative capacity of China? In which areas are
reforms most urgent? What can be learned from international experiences?
These questions will be discussed by experts from China, Germany and
the United States.
