I just downloaded CDAP 3.4.2 SDK on my windows 7 notebook. I get the following error when running the "bin\cdap.bat start" script.

"Files\java\jdk1.8.0_60] was unexpected at this time."

JAVA_HOME is set to C:\Program Files\java\jdk1.8.0_60

Any ideas?.

java -version returns the following:

java version "1.8.0_60"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_60-b27)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.60-b23, mixed mode)

mvn -version returns the following:

Apache Maven 3.0.5 (r01de14724cdef164cd33c7c8c2fe155faf9602da; 2013
Maven home: C:\Users\U0069238\Apache\apache-maven-3.0.5-bin\apache-
Java version: 1.8.0_60, vendor: Oracle Corporation
Java home: C:\Program Files\java\jdk1.8.0_60\jre
Default locale: en_US, platform encoding: Cp1252
OS name: "windows 7", version: "6.1", arch: "amd64", family: "dos"

Thanks.

Hello Bill,
Thanks for trying out CDAP.

It seems like having special characters (in this case whitespace in Program Files) in your JAVA_HOME is causing the issue. You can try setting your JAVA_HOME to a path which does not have special characters in it.

For example:
C:\jdk1.8.0_60
or
C:\java\jdk1.8.0_60

You can just copy the  jdk1.8.0_60 folder to any these path, update your JAVA_HOME to point to this new path and try starting CDAP.

Please let us know how it goes. We will be more than happy to help you further in this regard.

Thanks

Hey Bill.

An alternative to what Rohit suggested is to use the solution listed here (see step 6 of Stage 2):
