Hey Guys,

On cloudera quickstart 5.5 vm, I have downloaded csd for CDAP and was able to download the parcel and distribute. When I activate I am seeing the following error -

Dependency not satisfied for release CDAP(3.4.1-1): CDH (at least 5.2). Any help is very much appreciated.

Thanks,
Shyam

Hi Shyam,

Strange... I haven't tried the cloudera quickstart vm, but what version of CDH do you have running in it?  Maybe a screenshot of your cluster will help.  If you haven't already, create a CDH cluster first with HDFS, Yarn, Hbase, zookeeper, and optionally Hive & Spark_on_yarn.  Then add the CDAP service to it after it is up and running.

The CSD only has a very basic dependency on CDH 5:  https://github.com/caskdata/cm_csd/blob/develop/src/descriptor/service.sdl#L13.

Thanks,
-Derek

Hey Derek,

Thanks for the quick reply. Do you have a cloudera image with CDAP running on distributed mode? That would help us a lot for playing with CDAP.

Best Regards,
Shyam

Hi Shyam,
Unfortunately we don't.  Such a VM would probably be prohibitively large for most (8Gb Cloudera + ~14Gb CDAP + XGb additional Yarn capacity for the apps).  That's why instead we provide the CDAP SDK for local purposes, as it is functionally equivalent to distributed mode.

That said, the approach you were taking of installing CDAP via the CSD in Cloudera's quickstart VM should work afaik, as long as the VM has sufficient memory capacity.

Thanks,
-Derek

Hi,

It's quite late, but happened to me the same today.
It seems that Cloudera's Quickstart virtual image has the software installed from package repository, so you have to Download + Distribute + Activate the CDH dependency in the parcel's section at http://quickstart.cloudera:7180/cmf/parcel/status
After that, you may successfully activate CDAP parcel.

At least this worked for me.

Regards,

Alfonso

Thanks Alfonso,
That would certainly explain it, and good to know!  Thanks for the update.
