Hi All

Time to come back to play ccTiddly...and boy has it changed.......

Managed to get it (1.8.2) running on a pendrive (using XAMP) ...after
I put OpenID in the disabled list (without that I was getting a blanck
page).

Now I cant import any tiddlers...even from "sure bets" like
TiddlyTools.........is this because I am running locally ??? Can I
import from a local copy ????/ I am getting a "error getting list of
tiddlers...",,,,both using the URL directly or the built in list of
feeds.

Any ideas

Hi Skye

Would you mind making a tutorial showing each step in setting up Xamp
with ccTiddly?
I would really like to be able to run ccTiddly from a pendrive :-)

Hi Mans

As I mentioned I haven't yet got to be able to load any tiddlers into
my ccTiddly...so I am not sure it is going to work exactly as it
should....

For the XAMP application......not sure it needs a tutorial......

I unzipped XAMP (version win32 -1.7.3) into a folder (called xamp) on
the root of the pendrive. Note that PortableApps is already installed
on the pendrive.

Then downloaded XAMPlauncher1-3.paf...which is obviously a
PortableApps file....and installed that using the options from in the
PortableApps panel. Now I have a XAMP Start panel botton in the
Portable Apps panel...which opens XAMP...and I have to manually start
up...MySQL, Apache......

The ccTiddly files I extracted into a folder (ccTiddlyWiki) inside the
htdocs folder inside the xamp folder.
Used the phpAdmin that comes in XAMP to set up the database...and
followed ccTiddly s instructions as to config settings.

It seems to work.....up to the point where I can't Import other
tiddlers......yet!!!!

I recall another system that lets you run things like MediaWiki (next
step is to get that running on the pendrive as well) and ccTiddly on a
stand-alone system..... it was based on the MoWeS (MediaWiki on a
Stick) idea..using the tools from chsoftware -
http://www.chsoftware.net/en/useware/mowes/mowes.htm - basically an
alternative to PortableApps...I recall it worked and was easy to set-
up...cant remeber why I abandoned that line ....

Hope that helps

Thanks for answering

I know MoWes - I use it for MediaWiki, Moodle, Claroline, TiddlyHome
and several other webapps -
however I never made it work with ccTiddly.
Here's my thread:
http://groups.google.dk/group/cctiddly/browse_thread/thread/f701bf0efa3e28ae/97bf4686d58a2fad?hl=da&lnk=gst&q=mowes#97bf4686d58a2fad

Maybe I should try a Mowes installation again and use phpAdmin to set
up the database - I think it was at this point in the process I gave
up..

Hi Skye,

Have you got any further with your issues importing tiddlers?
I've been having similar problems and I've hit a bit of a brick wall
with my troubleshooting.

Cheers,

James

I'm afraid that Simon McManus in Osmosoft, who pretty much handles
ccTiddly support these days, is away from work for a couple of weeks
due to personal issues. When he returns in a week or two he'll pick up
the threads of these ccTiddly conversations.

Apologies for the break in service in the meantime,

Cheers

Hi Skye,

Sorry for the delayed response.....

We should check if the proxy script is working on your setup. Could you try going to :

/handle/proxy.php?feed=http://tiddlytools.com

And confirm if tiddlytools.com is returned.

Thanks

Simon

If I may, check that php is configured to use curl. Per Simon's
suggestion to check /handle/proxy.php?feed=http://tiddlytools.com and
see what the result, I found that curl was unable to connect to the
given url. I am running this on Gentoo and recompiled PHP with curl
USE flag. After this was done, I was able to successfully connect to
TiddlyTools and get a list of available tiddlers and plugins.
