I am increasingly led to believe that there is nothing called consciousness. Our mind's curcuitary is in a continuous flux to help us adapt to the environment. Across species the thing called consciousness --that I will call curcuitary--has evolved, its not a finished product. We are wasting time studying consciousness. We should rather focus on these changing circuits in the brain. For theotetical analysis of the myth called consciousness please read B. F. Skinner's Contingencies of Reinforcement---and theoretical analysis. I may be wrong in its title ---I read this book decades ago.
