Amid the museums that line the National Mall, Spc. Samuel Kosgei and Capt. Meghan Curran carved out their place in history when they both took leads in the Marine Corps Marathon that they would hold to the finish. The race's 39th running at 19,759 finishers. The Amish have a tradition — Rumspringa — in which their teenagers live in the secular world to decide what life they want to lead, if they want to come back. Marathon runners do the same thing. They toss their training logs aside, stay out late, eschew the (sometimes) monastic life they’d built for themselves. And they figure out if it is really for them. It’s Runspringa.

Gallagher makes it a three-peat at Army Ten-Miler
Kerri Gallagher will tell you 10 miles isn't her specialty. And she has a point.
Last year, Gallagher was fifth in the 1500 meter run at the USA Track and Field Championships.
Well, on the side, Gallagher became the first runner in the Army Ten-Miler's 30-year history to win three straight overall titles, while also lowering her event record by six seconds to 54:50.
