Hey everyone! I'm Elsabeth, and it's good to get in touch with everyone a little before the semester starts. Thank to Andy for setting this all up! Jennifer, did they give you any idea at the bookstore of how much the books cost? Did they say if they're selling them in a package?

It looks like there's a list of required textbooks that's the same for each class, a list of required equipment that varies by class (but is essentially: stethoscope, watch, bandage scissors and scrubs/skills kit for lab), and a list of recommended books (also the same for each class) which does not recommend any particular lab diagnostics book, medical dictionary, or nutrition book, just recommends having them. Not sure yet where to start with those!

Hi Elsabeth, No the bookstore did not give me an idea of cost. They do however have a list of our required 1st semester textbooks so my guess is they are going to sell them to us in a package. I'm going to give them a call tomorrow to see if fall books are in and I'll ask about cost and post to this discussion when I find out.

HI All!  My name is Lisa Walsh.  I look forward to meeting all of you.  Let me know if someone actually purchases books.  I went to the bookstore today and the young man at the counter told me we would get a list at orientation of the books we need.  He had to keep asking someone though, so I'm pretty sure I wasn't getting the right answer :(

Ok so I have a list of the required text that Charlene from the nursing office gave me and she also sent to the Collin bookstore (so I know they have it) I'm going to email it to Andy and maybe he can post it on here under documents. I know the required text are in all the syllabi but this is probably easier to have.

Hi, Charlene gave me that same list a couple weeks ago when I went by the office to talk to her and the program director about some paperwork,  I'll scan it in as a PDF, and post it here - and I also will post up links to each book over at Amazon, so you can buy them there if you like - they are likely cheaper than the bookstore, but you will have to wait until disbursement checks go out in order to "pay yourself back" with financial aid money at the end of September.  If you need to use your financial aid to buy the books, then you will need to get them from the campus bookstore.
