- Production Support is a small team that works to strengthen Pixar's GNU/Linux-based desktop platform at every level. From desktop hardware to OS, application and infrastructure support, our work is critical to the day-to-day operations of the studio. We are responsible for diagnosing and resolving desktop problems that emerge as animators, digital artists, programmers, and others do their work.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Our work connects us to almost every group at the studio. This requires us to be responsive and collaborative, to maintain clear, open communication and prioritize a complex workflow, all under constantly changing conditions.Some of the things we work with every day: Fedora/RHEL/CentOS, rpm/yum, Xorg, Gnome, desktop hardware, git, Python, shell scripts, device drivers, nfs, ssh.We are looking for someone who is passionate about delivering excellent support for our users. With your help, we will continue to provide technical solutions to help Pixar create great movies.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated Linux aptitude or experience
- Excellent attention-to-detail
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate highly-technical concepts in lay terms
- Excellent ability to process and concisely share relevant information in a timely fashion
- A desire to work on a collaborative team
- Ability to prioritize, respond to, report on and complete multiple, simultaneous requests
- Ability to work on occasional evenings and weekends
- Ability to work under or behind desks and in server rooms
- Ability to lift and manipulate objects weighing up to 35 lbs
- Ability to provide the highest-quality customer support from start to finish
