Dear CCSF Student Coders,

I'm hoping you can help spread the word on some great classes we're
offering that could use more students this Spring. Specifically:

CS 280: Parallel and Cloud Programming is in danger of cancellation
because of low enrollment. Please help us spread the word to get more
students! Attached is a flyer advertising the class. It is offered at
the Downtown Campus (4th and Mission) on Monday nights, starting next
Monday the 12th! Interested students should go ahead and attend even
if they haven't yet enrolled, or if
they have questions about the course. (Or e-mail us to tell us if you
are interested but can't make it.) This class now helps to satisfy
our Certificate in C++ Programming detailed here:
http://fog.ccsf.edu/~cpersiko/csDept/C++Certificate.pdf

Other great classes that could use more students (but are not in
danger of cancellation) include:

CS 114B C# Programming
CS 130A PHP Programming
CS 132A Ruby Programming
CS 195 Web Site Development Practicum
CS 211D Android Programming
CS 311D Advanced Android Programming
CS 211E Adv. Java: Enterprise Edition
CS 260A Linux System Administration
CS 260P Linux Administration Projects

For our detailed class schedule go to:

For the most up-to-date details on our curriculum go to:

Thanks,
Craig

I can voucher for:
  • CS260A  Linux System Administration -- if you don't already know these skills, this course will change your relationship to computers
    • Greg Boyd is great -- lots of work, but worth your effort
  • The Android classes are worth it too:
    • CS211D Android Programming
    • CS311D Advanced Android Programming
...Abbas Moghtanei gives lots of homework, so you're building or iterating on Android apps most weeks.  A bit of an old school lecturer, but you really are building skills in these classes.

I haven't taken CS195 Web Site Development Practicum, but it's a great opportunity to build a portfolio project to show what you can do.  However, you'll need to put in the time to produce something worthwhile.  Also, you'll need to hustle around to find a good project, don't wait around for a good idea to be magically submitted on the course website (how anyone not in the class would find it, I don't really know).  See if there is web dev work within the college or check with Code for America -- basically get the project you want submitted, and run from there.
