The SLO pages are being updated these 2 weeks. All SLOs are now posted on CurricUNET.

Please do not just rely on the SLO when you pick class for an educational goal, unless you are only taking classes out of personal interest.

SLO stands for Student Learning Outcome. There's also several -LOs like MLOs & ILOs, which are now in place for CCSF to catch on with Accreditation.

Here's some reference to success college:
1. Identify your goal with CCSF (i.e what's your reason for coming to CCSF)
    - Associate Degree? Certificate Program? Transfer? Advancing skills for work? Personal interest? etc.

2. i) Talk to a counselor to establish your education goal
        - Can also contact Department Chairs or instructors for advice, but it's the counselor's job to help with your goal and the student's responsibility to make decisions

ii) Go to the Department website for more information

iii) Check out the Catalog for each discipline/program

iv) If you are transferring to a 4-yr University, check out the transfer requirements (for each Major) on their website, assist.org is also a handy tool for CSU/UC requirements

Students should first look at the requirements on the Major/Certificate (Catalog), then look for elective classes (with descriptions, Catalog & SLOs). Everything should be based on the current School Year's Catalog. SLOs are the fine print for the Catalog and are identical.

A reminder that all CS students should hop over to the CNIT department and take computer/info security classes with Sam Bowne.

[ Read the longer write-up about his classes on page 4 of this document:  http://tinyurl.com/notes-on-CS-at-CCSF ]

Here's an *excellent* talk he gave to Coders back in Fall 2015:

Prof. Sam Bowne's Intro to Computer Security classes at CCSF

...plus he has two new classes this semester:
  • CNIT 50 (Network Security Monitoring) -- using Security Onion Linux distro designed for network security monitoring
  • CNIT 141 (Cryptography for Computers) -- this class looks like it should be cross-promoted to and maybe even (eventually) cross-listed in the Math department

p.s. Another computer/info sec instructor who I've heard is worth taking is Richard Wu.
