I wanted to share our job posting for a Member Services Representative position with you. While these aren’t CHW positions, there’s a lot of overlap between what a CHW does and what a Member Services Representative does.
The type of people we’re looking for should be interested in helping people navigate the health care system and have some experience working in healthcare. We, of course, will have training, but it helps to have some basic understanding of or experience working in healthcare, and I think a lot of CHWs, (especially the alumni who have already gone through the CHW program), would fall under this category.
Working in the CCHP Member Services Department is a great way to learn about health plan operations and assist members who need help getting services or understanding how our healthcare system works.
The official title for the position is “Member Services Counselor,” but I think that title confuses members into thinking we do counseling work, which we do not do. This is a call center position where staff are helping lots of people each day.
