SECUNDERABAD: Soon, officials of Secunderabad Cantonment Board will
impose hefty penalties for violating noise pollution.

Officials who received numerous complaints from the residential
colonies to the abutting function halls regarding noise pollution due
to bursting of crackers and heavy volume of sounding system, during
marriages and other occasions, have moved a proposal of imposing
penalties, at a SCB Board meeting held in Secunderabad Cantonment on
Friday.

The president cantonment Board, Secunderabad, Brigadier Abhijit
Chandra has suggested penalties including, Rs 10,000 will be imposed
against violators for the first offence, and subsequently, Rs 25,000
for the second offence and seizure of the property concerned for third
time offence.

Brigadier also asked the SCB chief executive officer, B Ajith Reddy to
come up with these penalties to approve in the next board meeting and
advised also to constitute a joint team of officials including SCB and
traffic cops, to impose the penalties against violators.
Before this, CEO, Ajith Reddy also explained reasons for noise
pollution and said "heavy disturbance is occurring during the night
times and now, we have categorized into four zones such as industrial
zone, commercial zone, residential zone and silence zone and fixed
certain decibels, which stipulated by the Central government and T S
Pollution Control Board".
According to the CEO, the commercial space/public space has to
restrict the volume of sound so that it does not exceed by not more
than 10 decibels and noise from the private space would not exceed
more than 5 decibels.
