SCB Water dues to HMWSSB

Please read the last para. That's what every property owner should do - not to pay the monthly water charges when their representative comes for collection. This will hasten up clearing the position wrt 20KL of free supply of water per household per month.

Secunderabad: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board’s latest bill showing outstanding arrears of 34.1 crore towards water dues has raised the hackles of Secunderabad Cantonment Board.
The SCB said it has no clue as to how the water board has arrived at this figure. The officials have urged animal husbandry minist-er Srinivas Yadav and Cantonment MLA G Sayanna to resolve the issue.
As per SCB records, it had 8.7 crore outstanding amount to be paid to the water board as on August 2020. The SCB first cleared 6 crore and another 2.7 crore later in 2020. In the mean time, the HMWS&SB has raised an outstanding bill of 19.2 crore from January 2021 till February 2022 to the SCB.
“We do not know on what basis it is showing 34 crore despite clearing the arrears,” senior superintendent, SCB water supply wing, S Raj Kumar, told TOI. On its part, the water board said it updates records from time to time. “Our records are always updated. The SCB is making baseless charges against us,” a water board oficial told TOI.
“We pay 1 crore every month for supply of water under bulk category,” explained Raj Kumar.
After the free water scheme was announced, consumers have stopped paying monthly water bills. “This had led to a drastic dip in our revenues,” a senior official said
