These are great ideas, Cassie. Not sure how to pick first but if Master Gardeners can do an outdoor program for us in July, that would be great!
My facebook friend Amy has started a company called the Well Fed Catepillar. https://www.wellfedcaterpillar.com/?fbclid=IwAR3m_4q-14BKbZmmgRTV87aJ1GTqeNd-fXhOys6ySYGUfYHKXYcM-fnuu-k
Would we be interested in a presentation as a new business in the community focused on pollinators and ecology?
Stacy

I agree with having the Well-Fed Caterpillar do a presentation. They did the sale at Riggs last week (when I was gone) and I think the Green Drinks presentation, too.

Yes to Catepillar. Amy is in my neighborhood and Ibought the plants from them for a revamp of the pollinator garden at Camp Drake. We could do two tours in a month and maybe they could show their "grow operation. I would highly encourage everyone to buy native plants from them and/or get a garden shade/soil test and/or have them plant a garden for you.

Hi everyone,
Andy, I hope you’re enjoying your vacation.
Do we have confirmation for a solar & pollinator plant tour at the new U of I solar farm this month?
There are 5 Thursdays in June.
June 16th is the 3rd Thursday.
June 23rd is 4th Thursday.
I suppose we could request either date if neither is confirmed.
Cassie – could you follow up with Master Gardeners for July?
I can reach out to Amy at the Well Fed Catepillar for August & Champaign County Environmental Stewards for September.
Best,
Stacy

Hi Stacy and CCNet leadership team,
Mike Larson, copied here, is the key contact for Solar Farm tours on campus. Please work with him on the schedule and needs.
Thanks!

Hi Mike,
I’m a representative from the local group called Champaign Count Sustainability Network (CCNET). We conduct monthly meetings on topics of local sustainability.
Our group identified the new U of I solar farm and new pollinator plants as a venue we are interested learning more about within our community.
We typically hold presentations & in-person events at noon on the 3rd Thursday of the month. The tour would be for about 1 hour.
There are 5 Thursdays in June.
June 16th is the 3rd Thursday.
June 23rd is 4th Thursday.
Either of these Thursdays could work for CCNET.
Would it be possible to set up a tour of the new solar farm with you? Also, Andy Robinson may have already reached out. Apologies for duplicative requests if that’s the case.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Stacy Gloss

CCNET,
What should we do? I’ve removed Mike from the email list for now while we decide if we want to look at different dates or request someone else from F&S to give us a tour if our dates are inflexible. Make some suggestions and I’ll reach back out to Mike.
Thanks!
Stacy

Stacy,
I am happy to help with a tour, but June 16th and 23rd will not work for me. I would be happy to inquire if someone else from F&S would be available to assist on those dates, or perhaps we could look to do the tour during your July meeting?

I am open to either pushing it back to July or finding a different F&S person, if Mike doesn’t have special knowledge about the solar farm that others wouldn’t have – like how the output of the tracking solar farm compares to the output of the fixed solar farm, or the specific benefits or added liabilities provided/created by the pollinator areas.
