Happy
Hour Hikes
We have a Happy Hour Hike this Friday at
Weaver Park!
The
East Central Illinois Master Naturalists and Champaign County Climate Coalition invite you to join us for a Happy Hour Hike, the final Friday of the month from 5-6 pm at local natural areas.
This month we will explore Weaver Park in Urbana. We will meet at 5
pm on July 29 at the Weaver Park Parking Lot at 2205 E. Main St., Urbana, IL. Next month we will explore
Crystal Lake Park for Climate Action Week on August 26.
These meet-ups are designed to be low key opportunities to enjoy a walk and talk with conservation-minded folks
in our region. Whether you are just getting curious about our local environment or it is your full-time job, anyone is welcome to join. You will be in the company of others who enjoy nature and conservation activities and conversation. Everyone is welcome!
People from environmental groups, businesses, government, academia, and individuals are invited—and should bring friends!
There is no registration necessary, just swing by the meeting location at 5 pm. Further events and information
can be found on the Champaign
County Climate Coalition Facebook Page, or feel free to reach out to Amanda at achr...@illinois.edu or by phone at 217-333-7672.
After our Happy Hour Hike, folks are invited to head over to Green Drinks. Our topic for July is Food Forests and
Wild Edibles with JP Goguen. Find our table in the backyard at Riggs, look for table signs that say Green Drinks! Find more about Green
Drinks here.

Volunteer
for Local Conservation Work!
In celebration of the 2022 Master Naturalist Volunteer Graduation, we are hosting an outdoor volunteer fair to
mix and mingle with our new Master Naturalists and all of our program partners! This event is for anyone who wants to learn more about volunteering for our environment locally. This is not just for trained Master Naturalists, so be sure to bring friends and
family interested in learning more about this work.
Join us on August 18 from 6-7 pm near the organic gardens at Meadowbrook just off Race St in Urbana. You will be
able to talk to representatives from Champaign
County Forest Preserve District, Champaign
Park District Natural Areas, Urbana
Park District, Vermilion County
Conservation District, Grand
Prairie Friends, Land
Conservation Foundation, Upper Sangamon
River Conservancy, the Idea
Store, Audubon Society, Allerton
Allies, and more. We will also have representatives talking about Extension programs, like Master
Naturalist, Master
Gardener, and Money
Mentors. We will be spread out from the pavilion to the herb garden for a casual atmosphere to ask questions and sign up to volunteer with local organizations.
Help us spread the word and recruit volunteers for our local environment. This event is in response to overwhelming
interest in the Master Naturalist program. There are so many folks interested in helping our local environment that we have run out of space in class the last few years. Here is your chance to get hooked into this work and join us next time around.
For questions contact Amanda at achr...@illinois.edu. You are encouraged to register
to receive an email reminder, but registration is not required.
